The SEC has been the most successful conference in the tournament this year by going 10-2 up to this point. The Pac-12 is second going 9-3.
The SEC has 3 teams (out of 5 teams selected) in the elite 8 and is the only conference with more than 1 team in at this point. They are also guaranteed to have a final four team as, unfortunately, 2 of the SEC teams have to play each other (South Carolina and Florida).
The ACC was the most heralded conference but has gone 8-8 and of the 9 teams selected into the tournament only 1 remains. One wonders if Arkansas would have held onto their lead down the stretch if the elite 8 would currently be half SEC.
I am happy to see this level of success from the SEC and hope that it improves the reputation of the conference in basketball next year.
