It's rumored that coaches received an email last week informing member schools that the SEC will release a revamped schedule next week. The original plan has been scrapped for some odd reason. The rumor implies that Vandy - UT and Florida - UK will not be permanent rivals. Speculation is that this may indicate a UT - UK pairing. Have any of you guys heard this? Could be pure BS.

Gary Parrish has straight up reported that there has been a massive schedule change, but little else. I'd love to hear that it involves UT and UK being matched up permanently.

plsssss be true! I don't care about having a home and away with anyone other than Kentucky.

Also, I sort of worry what competitive balance means lol.

Georgia's schedule got harder (because Georgia sucks anyways) and Alabama's schedule got easier (because were tired of watching you tank at the end of the season so you get a home / away with Ole Miss, Georgia, and Auburn)

Honestly though, I hate not being able to have home / aways with Florida, UK, and Vandy. I could care less about the others but as long as UK is on the schedule twice a year, I'm good!

Yeah, my top priority is also getting UK twice. Apart from that, I'd love to go to a Big East model, where your schedule is based on a preseason poll. Tough against tough, soft against soft. Gives the good teams a chance to rack up quality wins, gives the bad teams a chance to not go 3-15 every year.

This whole thing is a mess.

While yes I like playing Kentucky and Florida home/away, i still don't think it's fairest. Why should we have to play those teams while say bama gets easy home/away opponents. Sure it helps our SOS, but I'd rather finish higher in the SEC standings, get a bye for the tourney, and hopefully a better seed resulting from a deep SEC tourney run.

I just don't like the set idea figure out anyway to rotate it IMO.

I dunno, look at how many great seeds the Big East teams get, and their top teams play the toughest schedules.

I suppose that's very true, never thought of it that way. Id like us to have a home/away with one of Kentucky, vandy and Florida each year. So each year you have one of those, but don't have to play all 3 twice every year either.

If it ends up that way I'm fine with it though, I enjoy playing those 3 teams home/away.

Based on the article that Incipient linked, it sounds like the "constant rivals" have not changed, and the SEC only changed which teams are rotating on this season as a home-and-home opponent.

"
consider that Vanderbilt was supposed to have Tennessee as its constant rival and Kentucky, Alabama, Missouri and Ole Miss as its home-and-home opponents, but sources told CBSSports.com that Vanderbilt now has Kentucky, South Carolina, Arkansas and Auburn as its home-and-home opponents.

Meantime, Ole Miss was supposed to have Mississippi State as its constant rival and Auburn, Florida, Vanderbilt and Arkansas as its home-and-home opponents, but sources told CBSSports.com that Ole Miss now has Auburn, Tennessee, Missouri and Texas A&M as its home-and-home opponents.
"

That implies that Vandy/Tenn and Ole Miss/MSU are still constant/permanent rivals.

You may be correct. I had not seen the Gary Parish article at the time of my posting. My info came from a different source.

Hopefully, this is a sign that the SEC has reconsidered Tiered Rotation versus rotating home-and-home opponents on a fixed schedule. Tiered rotation would get more SEC teams in the tournament each year. We would also likely faced UK, UF, Bama and Mizzou, in addition to Vandy, twice each season, which would be great!

In case you missed it, here's what tiered rotation would like if we applied the Big East model to the SEC.
