Just a heads up:

The network is set to air 45 SEC football games in it's first year.

As of now AT&T Uverse is the one and only major cable provider that's agreed to distribute the network.

You may miss one or more of the Vols football games if your cable provider doesn't offer the SEC Network.

If you don't have U-verse, you can go bother someone about it at Get the SEC Network

Check out who was sitting behind Mike Slive during the announcement back in May.

I'd imagine they'll get DirecTV, Dish, Comcast, and Charter before launch. I'd also imagine that it'd be on the basic tier in SEC country, and on some sort of sports package in non-SEC areas.

I really hate that the syndication package is going away though. Means a lot of people who see these games aren't going to be able to now.

These are just programming negotiating tactics that go on all the time. Cable companies in the Southeast will not cut their own throats, eventually all will carry the SEC network.

I just hope they have an internet / mobile streaming app ready by launch, unlike FS1 did.

I truly believe online access is the future of television programming

I also imagine Time Warner Cable will be the last to add this network just as they were with the NFL Network. I love you Time Warner freaking Cable.

I remember even here in ohio, they refused for the longest time to add the big ten network too. Until so many people were complaining. They're ridiculous.

I hope they have similar programming like the BTN does with the Elite series but hope they don't cater to Bama!

It'll be fine. Nobody will miss any games by the time they roll this out.

They will, it's built on the ESPN3 platform, and they could launch it tomorrow if they wanted to.

I won't miss the syndication package even one bit. It might be better in other markets, but in Knoxville where the affiliate is CBS, you could just about guarantee you had to miss most of the 1st quarter of the 3:30 game watching the clock run out on the 12:21 blowout.

You know MyVLT carried the CBS telecast until the SEC TV game was done, right?

Which was great as long as I wanted to watch the game in comparable picture quality to a VHS from 1985. With this new way the games will available on totally separate channels at probably very little additional cost.

MyVLT is HD, so not sure why it was VHS quality for you?

If it comes down to either watching the game in VHS quality or listening to Bob Kesling announce it on the radio I'd take VHS any day.

I live in florida and have verizon. I find it hard to believe that anyone who wants it won't get it. Especially if you live in the south.

I think you've mentioned this before, but starting next season there will be two 3:30 games each weekend right? One on CBS and one on SECN.

When charter does get it they will prob have it be part of some package with Spanish channels and charge an arm and a leg for it

What about this: listening to V Lundquist or listening to Kesling?
