Ranking the quarterback units for every SEC team - ESPN

9. Tennessee: The Vols have three quarterbacks returning who have started games for them, but there’s still some uncertainty surrounding the position after redshirt freshman Riley Ferguson decided to leave the program following the spring. Senior Justin Worley was solid before an injury ended his season a year ago, and Josh Dobbs was then forced into action as a true freshman. With better playmakers around him, Worley could end up being one of the surprises of the league.

I am actually a little surprised we were this high with all the uncertainty, but it seems the experts and media is pretty high on Worley and/or Dobbs being serviceable for the upcoming season. I am in agreeance, but what say you VN?

Thoughts?

We are ranked ahead of Vandy, Arkansas, Kentucky and two contenders replacing players drafted in the NFL.

I think it's as much a product of the lousy talent at those first three I named and unknowns at the other two than any hard and fast belief in Worley and Dobbs.

Article points out that we were pretty good against GA and SC when Worley was healthy.

I think we would have at least beaten Candy if Worley had stayed on the field for a full season, and we would have gone bowling! JMO

All the QBs should be improved with better talent catching the ball and a year in Butch's system under their belts.

dont like to play what if, but I do believe we beat florida if worley started and we were able to cash in on the early breaks and "mo". i really think he was coming around when he got injured. Dobbs with experience can be sound i believe.

No, no it doesn't. And the offense was pitiful against SC in honesty. The "catch" was good though.

So according to the author, Worley is behind a GA qb to has only taken a couple of snaps after Murray went down against tech. Sounds about right (sarcasm).the must be dawg grad.

Highly recruited and he played well that's the reason.

The article doesn't say that and the truth was the o was pretty bad until North's two late catches. The D won the game.

I honestly think 7-9 should be tied. USCjr and UGA haven't proven much. And personally Coker should be lower, but comes with typical Bama hype

I think Thompson should be at 5, but who else would you put above Coker? Driskel? Mason?

I was thinking they would have us at 10. Everyone in league except TN, Ark, Aub, FL and Ole Miss has a new QB. Miss ST - Prescott, USCe - Thompson, Mizzou - Mauk, GA - Mason and Vandy - Robinette have meaningful experience though. Driscol was mainly a run threat, so we will have to see how that works out...with new OC too.

We could surprise. Dobbs and Worley are definitely putting in the extra effort. Tall WRs will also help the QBs to look good.

How in the world do you put Coker, who's never played a down in the SEC and yet to participate in an Alabama practice, ahead of Dylan Thompson, who's been in Spurrier's system for years, has started several games for SCar and has put up impressive passing numbers (55%, 1827 yds, 14 tds, 5 ints, 142 rating) in limited time.

Driskell and Thompson for sure, probably Mason in the preseason at least. Things could change quickly based on how Coker performs early but for the purposes of preseason predictions, not sure how Low can put a guy who's never even practiced with his new SEC team ahead of a couple of guys who have had pretty decent success as an SEC QB. But, then again, it is Chris Low.
