1. Alabama- Look, I get Arkansas is down and stuff...but 52-0? Dear God. This year's team has the potential to be better than last year's team. Lacy and Yeldon are a nasty 1-2 punch, and they have the best O-Line I've seen in a long time. Oh, the D is pretty good too.
2. LSU- Another ho-hum performance against a weak team. They have the best stable of running backs in the country and the front seven is probably the best in the country. After the USC debacle, the winner of the Alabama-LSU game is going to win the SEC and most likely the national title.
3. Georgia- Bad first half after an emotional game happens, and they blew out FAU in the second half. They got 100 yards each from Gurley and Marshall. Who knew the Isaiah Crowell loss wasn't a big deal at all?
4. Florida- Will Muschamp gets a huge win for his program. Jeff Driskel looks like the future at QB, and UF can run the football very well. And that defense has the potential to be top ten. Florida has a decent chance to win the East this year.
5. South Carolina- Dylan Thompson, come on down! You're the next contestant on "Can Steve Spurrier find a QB while at USCe?" Shaw was hurt again and has "no idea" if he'll play against Mizzou next week. I gotta say, I like the strategy by Spurrier to continue to give Lattimore minimal carries and save him for the long haul.
6. Texas A&M- What? Am I crazy? Maybe. But the Florida loss is looking better, and they held a June Jones offense to only three points AT SMU. Manziel looks like the future at QB, and TAMU has some talented skill players. This team looks better than advertised.
7. Miss State- They played a great first half against Troy, but that second half was lackadasical and inexcusable. Tyler Russell continues to improve, but the D cannot give up 572 yards to Troy. That just can't happen.
8. Tennessee- What a tough loss for Dooley and company. UT got slaughtered in the second half by UF, outscored 27-6 in the second half. UF had 500 plus yards against UT. The run game is still a concern (or lack of commitment against it). UT might improve, but right now, they look like a 7-5 team.
9. Mizzouri- Because it was late and during other games, most people don't realize Mizzou beat a pretty decent Sun Devil team at home. That's not an easy win, especially without star quarterback James Franklin. That's a good win for Gary Pinkel and crew.
10. Auburn- The last five teams in the SEC are flat out bad. Auburn got lucky against the Warhawks and barely pulled out a win. Auburn finally ran the ball, but that D is worse than I originally thought. Prediction: Auburn doesn't make a bowl this year.
11. Arkansas- We should have an award named after John L. Smith. The criteria? Seeing how fast a team can quit on you. Congrats to John L. Smith for coaching three career games at Arkansas and having your team quit on you just like that.
12. Ole Miss- Hugh Freeze's team is going to put up some points this year. That high octane offense is going to give some team fits. Too bad that defense is a mess.
13. Vanderbilt- Can't really make much from their win against Presbyterian. Austyn Carta-Samuels had a nice debut for Vandy, but he's not the answer. They'll get sacrificed against UGA next week.
14. Kentucky- Congrats to Joker Phillips on ruining all the good the underrated Rich Brooks did for the UK program. Bobby Petrino, come on down!
