No it isn't the first time, they had this question on Sports Talk the other day. I think the first was Tarkenton (sp?) and Namath.

I think it was Fran Tarkenton against Ken Stabler.

Is this the first time a former SEC QB has sucked this much in a Super Bowl? Lovie Smith have tried to track down Danny Wuerffel during halftime.

:lolabove:

Since Lovie is a Tennessee boy, I think he should have tried to find Heath Shuler.

It was a loooong time ago. Plus you were probably thrown by his stint as the host of "That's Incredible!".
now that is correct. it's funny though, when you hear about past qb's from the SEC.......i've never even heard of anything Fran did at UGA......i know more about Buck Belue and Jimmy Streeter than i have ever heard about Fran.......weird.

Rex really wasn't a stellar SEC qb, was he? Didn't suprise me that he sucked last night.

He probably would have if it weren't for Travis Stephens & Co..

That's absolutely right. Still, I think if the Heisman committee could look a couple of years into the future and see Eric Crouch working at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, they would have the given the bronze guy to Grossman.

Speaking of Travis Stephens, I thought he should have at least been invited to the ceremony.

I could see Crouch talking to some 90 year old woman about a dust ruffle and matching sheets.:p

As for Stephens, it doesn't surprise me that he didn't get invited to NYC for the Heisman ceremony, but I was shocked that he lost the Joke Walker award to Luke Staley from BYU.
