Birmingham -- The Southeastern Conference Office was notified today by the University of Tennessee that its head football coach, Phillip Fulmer, will not attend this week's SEC Football Media Days, scheduled to begin on Tuesday at the Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham, Ala.
In accordance with Southeastern Conference policies, the University of Tennessee will be assessed a $10,000 fine.

"I am disappointed that Coach Fulmer will not attend Football Media Days," said SEC Commissioner Mike Slive. "Football Media Days is a very important event for the SEC and we expect each of our institutions to fully participate. We are looking forward to a great event this week with the largest media registration that we have had in our history."

I couldn't be more pissed at Fulmer. But at the same time I understand his motives. Gallion was going to serve him papers for a deposition, when he got there. I am torn between the two because I think Fulmer has no guts, but at the same time why make Gallion's job easy?

If I was Coach Fulmer, I would resign and tell the SEC and the NCAA and the whole state of Alabama just where they could go and how fast they could get there. Then, I would sue Logan Young, Finebaum, Cottrell and the whole state of Alabama for everything I could get. Finally I would meet Tommy Gallion in a dark alley somewhere with a couple of former football players and beat him within an inch of his life.

But that's just me.

That's what they want.

You wanna know what I think? Well, I'm gonna tell you ANYWAY!

The NCAA should squash Bama like a bug. NO scholarships, NO bowl games , NO recruiting, NOTHING, until they get a grip on Young, Gallion, Cottrell, and Finebaum. If I understand correctly, the UNIVERSITY and Coach Shula has been pretty silent on this whole matter. It's those renegade redneck lawyers and radio idiots that won't let this thing die. If the university would shut those fools up, it would be over in a few years and the rivalry would resume where it belongs-on the field.

They threatened as much.

What the bammers don't get is that not only did they chest, but they acted very arrogant (sp?) about the whole thing. That is why they get the beat down. I'm thinking they should be able to finish the job in a few years. Bama can't help it.

I'd also like to suggest that the NCAA (try to) squash Fulmer for this purely PR, low-class ploy. First, you get a squashed Fulmer. Second, you can pretty much guarantee that the NCAA officials who did so would drown in the flood of erupting noxiousness.

Down here in Tennessee, we call that a two-fer.

Check out this site you poor (select appropriate b-word based on your gender).

"Alabama Live" is a site collectively supported by all Alabama's major newspapers, so you can cruise their index for just about everything being printed on any team in the State, PLUS, they've got about the best and most trafficked fan-forums for UA, AU, ASU, etc...
