I think we should eliminate the conference championship game and instead go to 9 games, but the 9th game should not be scheduled until the week before championship weekend and the SEC should arrange the 9th SEC game for every team based on what is best for the league as it approaches the post season.
If there are a few fringe play off teams, have them play each other. If there needs to be a match to determine a conference champion and it won't jeopardize either teams CFP chances, match them up. If there are some guaranteed playoff teams have them play those already eliminated, something like that. They could weigh it against trying to avoid rematches but being open to having rematches if it is best for the league. They could have teams alternate hosting that game and going on the road each year and they could have a tertiary match up criteria of balancing teams that have recently hosted and gone on the road. Or they could find a handful of neutral site venues.
This really wouldn't be a bad idea for all conferences to do since it is now seeming like Conference Championship games aren't what they used to be.

… and surely the league office would never use their scheduling disgression to help Georgia and Alabama while screwing Tennessee.

I think just taking the last week of play you put the top four SEC teams in games playing against each other to determine who goes the Atlanta the next week. The issue is similar to this year were you could have two loss teams playing each other and knocking each other out of the playoffs. The fans would like to see this but the people who only concern themselves with money will not let it happen. Also for this to happen it must happen in all conferences playing for a playoff spot. ND can join a conference or just be left out. Then in my opinion the playoffs only include conference champions. The last week of the regular season is the first round of the playoffs.

You obviously didn't see Ga's schedule. If they were trying to help them, their schedule wouldn't have been the toughest in the conference. Ala and GA both played tougher conference games than we did. This is a tired, made up argument.

Not happening. The SEC Championship brings in way too much money.

If we went to 9 game conference schedule, we would just be beating ourselves up worse than now.

They did have a tough schedule, but this isn’t typically the case.
