Will you please give me a rundown on how teams advance to the NCAA tourney? I saw that we have a high RPI (28). I appreciate it.

It's not unlike basketball...except the SEC is considered to be the best conference. So, in basketball UK, UF and maybe one or two at the most, other SEC teams will make it. In baseball, it's not unusual for 8 or 9 teams to make it, and there is always talk about are there 10, possibly even 11 that are worthy.

So...our RPI IS good, but it's 8th best in the conference. We've only won two SEC Series, Mizzou and Vandy...we don't have a .500 SEC record(that's why winning this (UK) series would be soooooooo HUGE!),. Those are kind of the bad things on our resume.

In our favor, sweeping UNLV and taking the series from ASU on the road...both those teams are predicted to be in the field.

Obviously, if we don't make the SEC tourney, even if we maintain our RPI, it will be a huge strike against us. It's my opinion that if we make the SEC, based on where we are today, that we probably need to win a game to get an invite.

Hope that helps...We need to win today, that's all that matters.

Our RPI wont change alot. (unless we sweep UF). We just need to get into the SEC tourney. thats big. Auburn, UGA, Mizzu, and Arky are fading. Must take advantage of it

Just wanted to bump this for anybody wanting to know the current standings. The opening post has a link that updates the standings after each game ends.
