Even though the goal is 6 wins for the bowl birth I'm more worried about who are they better than in this conference. There are 3 groups. I felt their goal was to be easily better than the bottom feeders and equal with the middle of the road group. That would likely equate a 6-6 season at the least.
Let's throw Bama, Georgia, SC, Florida, A&M and LSU out of the mix. Even though they almost beat Georgia and can beat SC, I'm not concerned THIS YEAR with how they stack up against these 6.
IF yesterday wasn't a fluke and this offense has finally got things rolling a little, I think it's obvious they're ahead of Vandy, Kentucky and Arkansas (who struggled more against Florida than UT). Those 3 are the only true bottom feeders I see.
The middle right now is Miss St, Ole Miss, Auburn and Mizzu. UT has had a much tougher schedule so far and you could really say they've proven more than Miss St and Ole Miss. Mizzu hasn't played anyone but they do look good, as does Auburn who has 2 nice SEC wins but nothing really to brag about. So rank them however you want, but yesterday's performance shows UT is close to the top of the middle of the pack.
That is a successful season in my opinion. Next year we'll worry about the big boys (who UT looked pretty decent against 2 of them). GBO
