Our red zone TD percentage was last in the SEC...definitely an area we need our offense to improve next year.
Yeah the play book became very limited when we got in the red zone. Especially inside the 10. Last year we ran all kinds of plays with Hendon. This year I saw a fraction of the plays we ran from the previous year

SMH…..you sound like a menopausal old lady

Hmmm, not really sure I can agree with your analogy Carl. See, the avg age of a menopause patient is 51, and well, that is just simply NOT old. So, for a woman to be old (such as in her 70s or above) AND menopausal, would be, well, would be a medical impossibility.

Would you care to change your analogy Mr. Pickens???

Having players like Fant and Hyatt allow you to do that.

Same with Hooker. The play book was considerably dumbed down when Joe was in. Here’s to hoping we get back to our old playcalling and playbook next season.
I don’t disagree with that. We had dynamic WRs last year and a better backfield this year. Seems we were limited with personnel play calling that was available last year.

Not to mention Darnell Wright on the oline in those short yardage situations.

I think part of this was play calling due to lack of confidence in personnel...
And in part due to our scheme…we space people out and that gives us big scoring plays both through the air and rushing but the closer to the end zone we get the less effective that is…

Definitely an area of focus for the off season. We’ve got to develop that physical receiver (like Tillman, McCoy, Jennings, etc) who isnt easily knocked off his route and who wins the contested catches. And the OL needs to improve as well. Had plenty of injuries this year but that just highlights our need for better depth. And hopefully QB decision making will be improved as well.

IMO if you get in the red zone and have the issues we did the use the TE more and get your RBs involved more...In the run game get under center and use 2 backs..We have little imagination in the run game except to run between the tackles.

Not a Michigan fan but I love the way they play the game.

last year we used the power I or regular I formations a lot with Princeton Fant. Would like to see them bring something like that back for goaline/short yard situations.

Yea, William Howard is one of my all time favorite Vols so so I definitely enjoyed Fant on those goal line plays - both as a blocker and a runner.
