SEC tournament curse strikes again

Will this ever go away? :banghead2:

When's the last time we beat a good, or even decent team in the SEC tournament? Have we beaten someone we shouldn't have beat EVER? Ugh.

We've lost to plenty of bad teams, and even the years we avoided the bad losses, we always lost to the first halfway decent team we faced.

I truly thought this was the year we'd break that curse, and AT LEAST make the semis.

**** this tournament.

I had a bad feeling when the pairings were announced. Predicted it; in fact. Bama has a knack for doing us in when we need it most. Just freaking uncanny.

I remember back to the beginning of the Green era and am drawing a blank.

It's really kind of mind boggling that we constantly play badly overall each tournament. Even Pearl's teams didn't look very good; even the year we won the SEC outright and the year we made the SECT Final, we didn't look good.

In fact the only SECT I've witnessed that we've played well was the miracle run Houston's team did in 1991.

Come one guys. We all knew when Maymon was hurt this season was going to be a roller coaster. I for one won't be watching the NIT though

Back in the early 90's when a God-awful Tennessee team ran through the field and reached the finals...only to lose of course.

Even then we were favored vs ky, only had to win two games to win the tourney at the time and lucked out by playing cats instead of #1 seed, maybe bama or lsu. I forget. We have been dreadful in sect. No way around it.

I know I said this somewhere else, but I truly thought we'd break it this year.

This team had a different feel to it. I was really surprised we lost today.

If you told me before the season that Maymon wouldn't play a single game (which wasn't expected at the time), and that we'd be on the bubble for the tournament...

My response would've been, "You mean the NIT bubble?" and then I would've laughed in your face when you said, "No, the NCAA bubble."

It's mind-boggling to me that Georgia has won the SECT in my lifetime but we haven't.

Come on...mizzou edged us f 3rd spot of 14 teams in media poll before two things were known...positively, that the sec would be so down, and negatively, that maymon was out. The fact that we finished tied for 5th is neither an overachieving nor underachieving season..

But next year if we do not make the tournament there is a real problem, especially with a coach whose teams have always, no matter the personnel, played a brand of basketball that is simply not entertaining compared with the previous regime.

People.calling for a raise and extension after last saturday were a bit premature to say the least. No one is going to be fighting to hire cuonzo right now. Why waste money if we have to buy him out?
