I have heard repeatedly today that we should be upset that we hired a guy Dooley could beat...And he isn't recruiting well right now or has he in the past.

These are probably some of the most ignorant things I have ever heard...If you legitamately believe this, you have no understanding of the College football landscape....This speaks to the difference between the SEC and Big East...If I was a betting man, I would say Tennessee would beat or have a chance to beat any team in the Big East this year. Including Louisville.

Big East schools do not have the athletes or the draw to get them like the SEC does. If he surrounds himself with a terific staff and recruiters, we will draw athletes as well...

My point is that we need to educate ourselves or keep the ignorance to a minimum...

People can't be bothered to educate themselves. They want to mimic the spouting off as other ignorant posters have without doing any of their own research or formulating their own opinions.

Then they cry about how they are going to quit being a fan. That would be awesome. Because then we wouldn't see them on here anymore.

The problem with this train of thought is that if you finish top 20 in recruiting year in and year out, you could still be 13th in the SEC. If we can't win recruiting battles in our conference, how can we expect to win ballgames with our yearly schedule? Seems like all the other SEC teams (except KY) are light years ahead of us.

Sad, sad day for me. We all know that UT needed to land a big time coach to have a chance in recruiting. I sure hope Mr. Jones proves me wrong, but I just don't see it happening. Welcome to another 3-4 years of mediocrity.

Here's the problem: I'm sure he'll recruit better players than he did at Cincy. But we need to recruit kids who can play against--and beat--the players at florida, georgia, bama and south carolina! That's the problem! This is a beastly conference--and next year will be bad, for starters. Jones better have a magic recruiting wand or we will continue to struggle.

Didn't we pass on Kevin Sumlin because we thought he couldn't recruit?...

Exactly, If he gets Tee Martin, keeps Graham and Pittman, hires a great recruiting defensive staff, we will have recruits lining up and will be competing right away (and yes that is a long run-on sentence).

Don't look into Jones losing to Dooley too much. Saw it tweeted earlier that Spurrier and Richt have both lost to Joker Phillips at UK. Does that make them bad coaches?
