And the sad thing is, it should have been 7-2. No excuse for the LSU choke and for Alabama to lose.

Despite the SEC win, I still think Big12 is a better league. Nobody from SEC except maybe Tennessee on a good night could beat Baylor or Texas.

Tennessee is the best SEC team when on but they are Jekyll and hide.

Alabama will win regular season and is a great team but they haven't performed well OOC (see yesterday or loss to Western Kentucky). If you even look at Alabama's league wins, they caught teams when they weren't on.

Florida is the most dangerous team right now. They are getting better each week and maybe the best SEC team by March.

Missouri is the opposite of Alabama, wins outside of the league constantly but has head scratching losses in the SEC. They performance against TCU was embarrassing but they somehow pulled it out.

Arkansas and LSU are teams that will make NCAA tournaments but be gone after 1st weekend.

Mississippi State is a tough team but won't make tournaments.

Auburn has too many losses to make the tournament unless they hit a major win streak. Baylor was a bad draw for them. They could have beaten most of the Big12 slate.

UK has thrown ifs season in the garbage. They really needed to play yesterday. If they could have somehow win, they would have saved their season. Not playing was as bad as a loss. This team would have to get autobid to make tournaments and I don't think they are good enough. They are relegated to spoiler role (and they will upset someone).

Auburn has conceded any NCAA bid this year due to their program cheating like hell since Pearl got there.

That's a bit of an overstatement since the assistant coach who was involved in the cheating, Chuck Person, got nailed for it and there doesn't seem to have been anything else underhanded going on.

Of course, Pearl didn't know anything about it and btw, I have some oceanfront property in North Knoxville that I'm selling cheap. I bet u believe that, too

There was no evidence that Pearl was involved in the shenanigans. Otherwise, the ncaa would have been all over him as well.
If you can prove otherwise, please present your case. I'm sure the authorities would be interested in what you have to say.

This is true, you can tell by how the NCAA has hammered Will Wade

Speaking of Wade he looked very pale and weak looking pacing the court yesterday. I wonder if all the stress is compromising his health. Looks like death sucking on a life saver.

He’s always looked pretty pastie. I sort of recall a story when he was hired as UTC’s coach that he didn’t play high school bball because of a health issue, but my memory isn’t the best these days

No pictures of the BBQ either? As with Pruitt, the HC is responsible for the actions of their assistants. I didn't know the gun was loaded has never been a get out of jail card.

I can tell you how many power 5 conference football and basketball teams cheat. All of them.
That’s not true. Your ignorance is confounding. Or maybe you’re just arrogant. How have you verified your statement? I’m curious. What is it that you know to support your definitive statement that everyone cheats?”

You could have a clean program from the administrators down to the coaches and I would guess that we do but that's not gonna stop boosters from the $100 handshakes. You are nieve if you think it hasn't gone on everywhere at some level. It's impossible to police.

I would argue that is not the same as all of the "teams" cheating, which is what you claimed was happening

The NCAA says it is. I think this is why they started the whole self reporting system a few years ago. They know it's almost impossible to stop but want their members to show that they are making legitimate attempts to stop it.

I wanted this thread to focus more on SEC basketball and not NCAA allegations. I know that Auburn and LSU are under the radar (as is the UT football team).

Ultimate, I see the following SEC schools dancing:

1. Florida
2. Tennessee
3. Alabama
4. Missouri
5. Arkansas - although they are on the bubble
6. LSU - assuming they are not banned from post season play

Mississippi State is on the bubble looking out right now. They would need a major win streak to even make bubble watch. Georgia could also be another team that could jump on with major win streak.

Arkansas could really have used that close one against Oklahoma State. Kentucky desperately needed that game against Texas. If they could have beat Texas and then went on a win streak in the SEC, they might have found their way on the bubble. There is not another Texas level game on their schedule.

I can think of two.

Texas is a top 5 team. Tennessee is not (or anyone in the SEC). Plus you need strong OOC wins to balance league wins. UK could win out and still potentially not make tournament (provided they don't win the SEC Tourny). The perception would be that the SEC is weak. If they beat Texas and win out, it is a different story.

Kenpom and Sagarin have Tennessee and Texas really close. We're ahead in Sagarin.

The fact of the matter is that UK's OOC schedule is embarrassing. Beating Texas would make it slightly less embarrassing. You have to perform OOC to make tourny. One year Alabama went 12-4 in SEC play but was shut out of March because of a poor OOC schedule. Kentucky really needed a solid OOC win.

If Kentucky beat Tennessee it would serve more to crash Tennessee's RPI rather then help UK. Texas has a very healthy RPI and Schedule.
