Chris Burke said on the radio that if Vandy finishes 5 for 6 and if Florida plays well in the tourney that the SEC could get half of the national seeds..has that ever happened?

No. The current format with national seeds began in 1999. The SEC and ACC have both had three national seeds in various years.

In 2011, both conferences had three the same year (Virginia, UNC, Florida State for ACC; Florida, South Carolina, Vandy for the SEC). Rest of the country was somewhat annoyed.

No conference has had four the same year.

I thought there was a rule that limited it to 3, similar to the BCS bowls/playoffs, but I may have just concocted that in my head.

If UF wins the east Vandy should be excluded. UF's OOC schedule is stout with multiple games vs FSU, UCF, UM and FAU. All top 25 teams at one time or another. It's no comparison to the Belmont's Lipscomb's WKU and Murray State's of the world that Vandy is playing for mid week games.

Vandy leads UF by 3 games with 5 to play. Odds are Vandy wins the east and potentially the SEC as they lead by 1/2 game over LSU. They will get a national seed unless they lose 3 of 5 SEC games remaining.

They have a lower RPI than UF so it'll be interesting to see how it shakes out. It'll be hard for UF to catch them, but my scenario was predicated on "if" they catch them.

It's not going to happen. The committee will never allow such.

In fact, the baseball committee screws over the SEC more than any other post season selection panel (Softball is close)

Look how often the SEC seeds are matched up with each other in the same side of the Omaha bracket. When there are multiple nationals seed the committee does everything it can to prevent an all SEC championship game/series. The only one I can recall was Alabama vs. LSU in 1997 where the committee evenly divided 4 SEC teams between brackets.

Just recall that Tennessee had to play SEC opponents in their last two CWS appearances.
