I went on the Duke's forum, and noticed they were talking about the scrimmage. They are saying they beat Tennessee, and their point guard scored in the high 20's. Can anyone verify this or provide any information on how we looked?

Surely someone has some inside scoop.

Omg please no. If we got beat by Duke, we’re in for a long year!

I think we were supposed to play them Sunday. Whether we won or lost is up in the air. One Duke fan saying they won and another questioning the legitimacy of the post. So maybe we'll find out what went on and maybe we want. No media allowed so unless some of the players or coaches that were there give us the lowdown we might never know.

In my experiences, Scrimmages are not a 10 minute quarters full on game. It's a chance for the coaches to watch and have the ability to stop the play and review/go over things right there in real-time. In some of my experiences, scores aren't even kept, but rather shot clock/time only. I wasn't there and I know nothing that went down. I would be surprised if this scrimmage was a 'game like' scrimmage.

It's true.

No media or fans are present. No box scores.

Don't read too much into it. It was basically a practice against a different team.

A positive opportunity in late October to practice against an opponent in a different gym (away game)

What’s true ? The fact that they got beat by 20? The PG had 20 points? Or just the fact that there was a scrimmage ?

So glad for both teams that they got to see some different people on the court with them. Even though it was just a means-nothing scrimmage, I imagine that the freshmen got to get a few early jitters out of their systems.

The scrimmage occurred. Box scores were not kept, so I'm not sure where they got that information.

Thank you for the clarification! I know Holly mentioned the team had about 23 turnovers in the first scrimmage and 20 in the second but i think the coaches were tracking those

Three areas of improvement from last year must be:
Making layups
Perimeter defense
Reduce turnovers significantly

Gule, LFAO about your post and boy that was cold about Harris

If so that’s terrible!

Yup it was in one of the videos she was taking about the team. We will be able to tell more from the official exhibition game at the beginning of the season as to whether they are just throwing the ball out of bounds or turnovers because we were hustling. While no turnover is a good turnover a charge/offensive foul every so often vs just tossing the ball out of bounds or getting the ball stolen from a ball handler comes from different places and one is a dead ball turnover and may allow u to press while the steal puts your defense on its heels.

The turnovers have to be around 12 to 15 max or your not a very good team. You are certainly allowed a few mistakes everyone is going to make a mistake, but 20 a game is excess and not very good execution. No reason to have 20 turnovers in any game.

I hope I’m wrong but I think turnovers for us will be high for us again. Fast paced game, lot of freshmen will be getting PT, Kasi, Harris, did not play much last year either.
Hopefully our upper class women can set the pace and example with less turnovers.

I’d take two less turnovers a game for 14 a game that means one less per half which seems doable and like progress

First, off I don’t recall her saying all summer they had been working on turnovers. I heard her say they had been in the gym and working on skills. But I dont remember hearing her say we were running plays to become more comfortable to cut down on turnovers.

Also, how many quarters or periods were played? Were there 4 periods ? Did they do 6 or 8 periods which is also common. I am not gonna freak out about turnovers just yet ... now if we get to SEC and still making silly passes or getting the ball stolen then I’ll panic no doubt.
