That, plus paying back a little over 5k in impermissable benefits, is his penalty. Kansas just became a national title contender.

But we were better off without him according to the Pearl sheep. Oops.

I wish Pearls 8 games were bc of JSelby getting benefits from UT. And they'd both be coming back against UK.

It'd be awesome to have him on our team this year.

Man, I have apparently been unplugged. What was the finding against him? Who delivered the benefits? Were the benefits suspected to be tied at all to his decommitment?

Kanter banned permanently and Selby suspended 9 games. WTF NCAA?

I was just about to post this.
I would definitely want a talent like him, and I'd take the risk of the potential headache he would cause, but I'd be worried about Pearl's ability to deal with him. Pearl has done a horrific job with some of the more talented players we've had, IMO.

I have a feeling that the Kanter deal isn't 100% done yet.

With the NCAA reversing the Masoli and Dieng appeals, people think there might be a good shot for the Kanter appeal. One reason being that in the case of an NCAA appeal, it is the UK has built their case as best as possible. They will focus on the fact that Kanter A) rejected all official pro contract offers to remain an amateur B) All money deemed over the amount needed has been held in escrow and is available to be paid back.

Both of these items are not new and were presented before hand, but this time the committee is different. In an appeal, the committee is a 5 person panel. 4 of which must be staff members of an NCAA school or conference, and one person who is from the general public and is not affiliated with college or professional athletics in any way.

The appeal will take place the week after Thanksgiving. If overturned, its still probably a half-season type of situation.

However, my gut feeling is that the ruling will be upheld. I would love to be flat out wrong.

At the same time, what position has Pearl had the most trouble recruiting/least talent to work with? PG...Selby would've been a huge pickup for this year's team with an immediate impact. Yeah, there would've been some issues but I think his positive presence would've far outweighed the baggage he would've brought.

Not too mention if Selby had a great season, went pro after this year and became a top-10 pick, what it would do for recruiting.

Pearl badly needs a solid draft pick. Hopefully Tobias will be able to provide that after next season.
