Remember when Arlen Specter jumped ship to the Democrats? He did it because everyone in the Republican party was furious at him for voting for the Pork Bill and hurt the country. He left and we got all these stories about how the GOP was shrinking and all the moderates were jumping ship. Our RINO hunting would only be self-defeating they said.

Well, check out the
latest poll out of PA:

Toomey: 48%
Specter: 36

That's right, a moderate is actually losing to a strongly conservtive candidate. What did Specter say to the GOP? He was the only Republican who could win? Specter seems likely to either lose by a bigger margin than Santorum did, or get picked off in the primaries. And I'm flush with such wonderful feelings of schadenfreude. A guy that screwed over the GOP while he was a member and demanded that the party kiss his worthless butt before finally quitting the party when it became politically expedient (and I love how the Dems, the party who know how to treat moderates respectfully y'know, immediately stripped him of his seniority) will soon find that no one wants him and be put out to retirement.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer douchebag.

I agree, I just wish that the elections were being held this year. I'm worried that the current mood of the country will lose steam and by November 2010, we'll all be apathetic again and incumbent douchebags like Specter will be re elected.
