He took a job that many coaches wouldn't. He did improve our roster and I really think he made it a great job for the next coach. Dooley was a very honest man and a great person. With that being said I am glad we made the change but we need to show class and show Dooley and his family the respect they deserve. I also hope to see a great crowd this weekend and send these seniors out on a great note.GO VOLS and I hope Hart makes a home run hire because this in my opinion will be the most important hire IN UT HISTORY. Thanks coach Dooley and best wishes to you and your family.. :hi:

Yeah right. Not many coaches with loosing records would take the job and work three years pocket five million wreck a program and leave town. Sign me up. Respect is earned and he has thrown our players under the bus has not taken any responsibility for his actions. He is a classic lawyer. Good riddance

He didn't come here out of goodwill people. We offered him millions of dollars to coach football.

People are acting like it was charity work.

He's done a great job in all respects -- other than the all-important W-L column. He instituted the VFL program, recruited some good players, kept them eligible to play (better than our previous coaches) and acquited himself well as a representative of our school. I wish he would have been able to win more games, but he wasn't. I always got the impression that he was a good guy from a good family and I wish him well and don't see any reason to bash him. We did what had to be done. He's gone. Let's move on.

This. I would have given anything for Coach Dooley to have been successful here. I think he's a good man with a lot of integrity. He and his family deserve the respect. As far as the buy out comments, if anyone on here wouldn't take the buyout money, please pm me, I need some money. But, there will be the bashers on here, hell Coach Fulmer gets ragged on, on this board all the time with all of the success he had.

No and No

"Although the offense has produced plenty of points, the defense has allowed 37.4 points and 476.8 yards per game. The Vols haven't given up that high a scoring average over the course of a full season since allowing 42.7 per game while playing a six-game schedule in 1893. Tennessee hasn't allowed that many yards per game since at least 1950, the earliest year Tennessee measures that statistic in its media guide."

Dooley conducted himself with class and represented our university admirably. Two thirds of the posters on this board should wish they had half the class he has. You can disagree and point out short comings and even fire the guy without making an a_ _ of yourself.

I still belive he should have had 1 more year. We have alot more talent now than when he got here Next year is going to be tuff on any new coach we get and VOLNATION will be crying we hired the wrong coach again. THANKS coach Dooley

He is getting 5 million, he needs no respect. I will say there is no reason to pile on with comments. That said he was never the answer and he has 5 million reason to be a lot happier then us, to quote a famous spoke person.

Wrong. We'vbe gotten worse each year. 6 wins, 5 wins and maybe 5 wins this year.

I dunno, volbeef, in some respects we have gotten better, but it hasn't translated into W's and that is the bottom line in any athletic program.

I agree. The guy was brought in under the pretense of save the program after the Kiffin debacle and restore some stability and he did that. He was just a band aid on a gaping wound from the beginning. I think they thought if he succeeds great but no one REALLY expected him to do great things. I mean he had a losing record in the WAC.

tennessee has not become better with him

they won 3 sec games his 1st year

they have won 1 sec game in the last 2 years

where does the better come into play?

some of you better come to grips with this because, whether tennessee makes a good hire or not, the beatings will continue for awhile

People are acting like it was charity work.

It turned into the Derek Dooley charity. An organization that collects millions and distributes to people that are unable to coach football.

This is getting so old. Just stop it, nobody hates the guy. He's just a joke as a head coach, that's all. And it isn't disrespecting the guy to point out his failures. Get off your high horse every once in a while......geez.

Not one Vol fan is happy about the way this season has gone. You can talk about "he gets 5 million..." And I agree he is not in the financial bind most of us would be in if we lost our job, but he invested a lot into the program, and he tried to do things the right way and it is a better program outside of wins and losses than it was when he got here, and for that we at least owe him some gratitude, at the very least we owe him some respect. Some of the things being said by some of our fans is rude, ridiculous and embarrassing. We need to show some class. IMO.

This is just inaccurate. Like I posted in another thread, it is absolutely mind-boggling that the 2010 team he inherited was the best team he ever fielded. It's so awful that honestly I can barely wrap my head around it. There's no way you can say a team that goes from 6-7 to 5-7 to possibly 4-8 is getting better.
