Not to hijack the thread but since it's about one of the All-Star games, does anyone know exactly how many there are now?
I only know of 4 that are televised: The East-West Shrine Bowl was this past weekend on the NFL Network, the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl was this past weekend and on ESPN, the Senior Bowl is this weekend on the NFL Network, and I know the College All-Star Bowl is Feb. 14 on the CBS Sports Network and that it's only in its second year.
I know there was a small one called the Casino del Sol All Star Game that was out in Arizona the last 2 years and was televised only on ESPN3, but apparently that one didn't happen this year. I also know there used to be the Hula Bowl, Gridiron Classic (aka Nation vs. Florida), Texas vs. The Nation, and the Blue-Gray Game that was on Christmas but those are all long gone.
ESPN.com only lists the Senior, East-West Shrine, and NFLPA games in their scores section.
I used to go to the Blue-Gray Game every year. There was also another one here last year, the Raycom Classic or something like that. I went to it, Ben Bartholomew and Prentiss Waggner was in it, Austin Rogers was supposed to play but he got hurt. There was a great turnout at the game, i don't know why they didn't have it again.
Not what there saying on the radio today. Comparing him to Knighton for the Bronco's. Saying he's a good 1st and 2nd down D lineman. Saying we probably overplayed him. We'll see.
I don't see how considering how badly he underachieved this past season. Dan should have been a dominating force this past year, he wasn't.
Thanks, I looked that up and it's exactly what it was.
not all were vs the SB champs - my dad went to the 1958 game - all were played in Chicago until the 70s -- look at the attendance -- mind boggling for those times IMO Chicago College All-Star Game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Holy Cow, those are amazing numbers. Wonder why they don't bring it back.
Chicago Tribune Charities had every intention of staging a 1977 game. However, with coaches increasingly unwilling to let their high draft picks play and insurance costs on the rise due to higher player salaries, the Tribune announced on December 21, 1976, that the game would be discontinued
