Interesting.

ESPN's Joe Schad reports that Alabama coach Nick Saban is cautioning his draft-eligible juniors about leaving school early this year because of the uncertainty in the NFL labor situation. As a result, players like Marcel Dareus, Julio Jones and Mark Ingram could all potentially return to Tuscaloosa next year.

Interesting.

If there is some doubt as to when you might play professionally (and it's not "if" but "when".....this deal gets done between the NFL and NFLPA), you might as well risk ever doing so by (again) playing another season as an amateur....for free.

If they fall for this, then it's clear that the only person they've talked to is Saban (who better to know how these negotiations might go, but a college coach). And that they're all fools.

Straight fools.

They would be idiots to stay. Most likely there will be a rookie cap in 2012, which could cost them big time $$$.

None of these guys would have any problems finding people to bankroll their year if a lock out/strike should occur.

Jones will go. He really can't increase his stock a whole lot more. Ingram and Dareus should come back, but I doubt that they will.

ingram will prolly go just because RBs dont have a long life span in football. Dareus needs to stay - could get lots better. and jones doesnt have that much left to gain as far as draft position

If Dareus goes in the Top 5 after the year he just had, then there is a GM that needs to be fired.

If he goes in the Top 10, I'd still be shocked.

Dude almost every mock draft has him in the top 10...top 5 is possible if not likely. If you are shocked you do not watch many drafts...

He was brutally ineffective this season. And as of right now he doesn't appear to have much in the way of stamina. He plays one season as a full-time starter and he looks only slightly above-average.

Mock drafts are wrong quite often. Only a team with a retarded back office picks him in the top 5.

Interesting how he wants all of his Jrs to come back and plans on still signing a full class even though that will put that at like 105 players on scholarship.

Yea but cutting down the roster by 20+ players isn't always easy. Seems like there would eventually be a rule put in place about oversigning based on current roster size and then advising some of the players that aren't panning out to look elsewhere. Of course, if UT were in that position, I wouldn't be complaining.

You are such a saint Nick Saban, caring for these kids futures and all.

im sure these kids are coming to bama cuz saban is a real good babysitter.
they know the score and still choose to come there.
if their "future" isnt a cushy gravy train how is that sabans fault?

They'll leave if they think a rookie salary cap will limit their earnings by not coming out this year. They're all gone.

The CBA is already toast. Any rookie wage cap that would go into place would go in this coming year. So leaving early will not benefit anyone in that way.

However, staying in college is taking a chance that there won't be an NFL season, and I doubt that it gets that far.

I think Ingram played this year like Jamal Lewis played his last year at UT...to not get hurt anymore.
