Not going to be a lot of sweeps this season in SEC. Will be difficult for anytime to not have double-digit losses in conference play. LSU had 10 last season for the fewest.

This is shaping up to look like 2012 except there will be no bad teams.

However, a team that has lots of injuries and bad luck could finish with 20+ losses even if they are talented and well coached. That could happen to 2/3 of the conference.

In my research for the season, I see that Kentucky also moved their all-everything second baseman JaVon Shelby to third base this season as well.

So, the two best 3rd basemen in the SEC may have been middle infielders before.

I think Senzel is a more natural fit at the hot corner than Shelby but it is apparent both Serrano and Henderson are trying to take some pressure off their stars defensively as the 3rd baseman on a team is usually more of an on-field coach as well- especially if something needs to be said to pitcher.

This will also help draft status as both guys could be seen as being able to play anywhere.

.

Huh?

How is adding responsibility taking some defensive pressure off of them?

Also playing 3rd is a tougher spot to play in college baseball than 2nd IMO.

Not as many chances
Fewer turns on double plays
My favorite players are normally catchers and third basemen (Brooks)

But the middle infield is more physically demanding to play than the corners.

Less chances overall but much more difficult plays at 3rd. That's why that position makes more errors than a 2nd baseman

I have to disagree and say that the corner is a much more physically demanding position because of the balls hit so hard at that corner
