Just got word that Serrano has been calling signees and players. I know he told them how excited he was to be back in Knoxville and he couldn't wait to get started, he also stated that the Vols was going to be back on the baseball map very soon. You have to love the excitement and enthusiasm! Go Vols!!

Can't wait to see some of the JUCO guys he gets us this offseason....I'm sure there will be a lot of roster turnover this year.....hard to believe Thurber signed after being in 39th round

Posted this on another thread but it should be worth repeating.... TCU HC Jim Schlossnagle on Serrano: "Coach Serrano is, without question, one of the best coaches in all of baseball today, at any level. He has a unique ability to not just put together great teams but to build a successful and sustainable program that will be known as one of excellence both on and off the field. He is a great friend and has an amazing wife and family The Vols have hit a grand slam with this hire and I look for Tennessee to be in Omaha in the very near future.”

Thurber was signing regardless of where he was taken. He might blossom when he's not benched for two weeks everytime he goes

Good post and good info. Thanks. It helps to confirm everything I have heard and thought about the man.

The general public is going to get sick of hearing Rocky Top played and sang so much with the success that is coming in all of the big 3 men's sports.

Too bad he got here too late to have any chance with Delmonico or Pfeifer. Or the rest of the instate talent going elsewhere.

Delmonico was never going to go to UT. Pfeifer is now going JUCO for a year (per the Vandy folks. That gives us another chance. I guess this is to rehab the shoulder but I'm wondering if that changes if both of Vandy's 1st round pitchers go pro.)

If nothing else, it gives us a chance at A.J. Simcox. Of course he may be a 1st or 2nd round pick anyway in 2012

Can't believe he knows how to use a phone, especially with not having a degree and all

No way they'd waste a year of eligibility because of a healing injury. If they were worried about that they would just redshirt him. The kid has a 4.0 anyways so grades aren't a problem. He will be at Vandy.

i'm not saying anyone is taking his spot. what i'm saying is that it's rather common for guys to end up at a junior college after signing with a d1 school. they have that mlb money in mind and don't want to wait 3 years.

laugh if you like.

If you knew Phillip and Phillip's parents you would know how much they value a good education. Hence part of the reason they picked Vandy in the first place. He'll go to Vandy until he's drafted again.
