I'm not trying to get the "ESPN hates us" chant started, but it is sad that seemingly only certain programs get roasted when others are just glanced at. Guarantee if Famous Jameis had been at many places other than FSU, he would have skated through the news rather than have a 2 year long media roast.

Be real interesting if the moral police on First Take, Mike & Mike, OTL et al are even mentioning this. And that report on sexual assaults on campus...Cal was way up on that list.

Of course not. Everyone knows that the "culture problem" is only a problem at southern schools with big football stadiums.

But I mean seriously.... who is it that is pushing the hate towards big time athletics (especially southern) when it's obvious it is a nationwide problem? Is it just the media to blame?

I don't know but the longer this drags on, and the more I pay attention to the problems other schools are having, the more infuriating this becomes that there seems to be no outrage from the media over anything except us.

You seriously have to begin to question if there truly is a motive. Call it a conspiracy theory if you will, but we are relatively far down that list of "problematic" schools yet we're being crucified proverbially.

In my opinion, yes, it is the media to blame. I mean look at Yale - there is very similar situation happening with their men's basketball team. But how much attention does it get from USA Today, ESPN, etc? Much, much easier for the media to point out UT, FSU, etc.

Looks like Martin is being investigated now!

That head coach Cuonzo Martin may have known about the alleged sexual harassment months before passing that information along to university officials fits into a disturbing pattern of UC Berkeley employees slow to act on matters of sexual harassment. Concern over Martin's handling of the situation is real enough, reports the Chronicle, that the university intends to open an investigation into his actions.

“To dispel any doubts about Coach Martin’s role, the university will be initiating a review of all of the documents and communications related to his actions," the paper reports UC Berkeley Athletic Director Mike Williams as saying yesterday. "We firmly believe the results will support our confidence in Coach Martin.”

The Chronicle reports that Martin, while admitting the reporter contacted him in May about problems with Hufnagel, told investigators the actions she described did not constitute sexual harassment. The reporter disputes this claim

Not sure how Cal can fire for him sexual harassment - when the reporter agreed to ride in his car as if it was an actual date - I think the guy can sue Cal for this. JMO from the info in the ESPN article that the OP linked

Desiree Washington rode in a limo with Mike Tyson...he went to prison. Not sure California is the state to argue "she had it coming ".

There is definitely a Quid Pro Quo..after he cut off info after her refusals..plus it looks like he wouldn't let her leave the parking garage at first

The unidentified individual accusing Hufnagel of sexual harassment is a reporter with an unknown news outlet. She alleges that when she rebuffed his sexual advances, he cut off her access to the team, thus preventing her from doing her job and ultimately leading to her dismissal.

Hufnagel admitted to university investigators his intention to have sex with the reporter.

“With all candor," Hufnagel told investigators, "I was trying to trick her into going upstairs.”

"Let me the **** out of here," she says she demanded of Hufnagel after he allegedly trapped her in his parking garage and “talked about oral sex.” The reporter claims she gave Hufnagel a ride home from a bar because he was too drunk to drive — a claim he denies.

"The evidence gathered was weighed by a preponderance of evidence standard," reads the summary of the university's investigation. "It supports the conclusion that [Hufnagel] behaved in violation of the Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Policy."

I wonder about her part of the story where she claims he cut her off from reporting on the team thus causing her to be fired from her job - Martin would have been the one to make that decision wouldnt he ? How many assistants can control which media gets credentials or not ? Plus it was her car not his ? They both must be making up lies

I know her name but I'm not going to post it here if they haven't announced it..she is working for another school now so she did get another job

Just let it play out I guess - at any rate I think Martin may be gone after the NCAAT -- Pitino should be gone now imo

Hufnagel was the media liaison for the team...so that was part of his duties. That's actually more damning for Martin. He SHOULD have redirected that to someone else ( or himself) and treated her like a recruit. Sounds easily fixable but he did nothing and now has to deal with the aftermath.

Cal was getting ready to announce his new contract...bet they hold off. It's never a good time but this was the worst with the 4 professors on campus facing sexual harassment charges.
