The first minute a message board messes up recruiting even a little bit, I will be opposed strongly to all of our speculation.
If you sat next to a kid on a plane who wants to come to TN but who needs to resist the state pressure where he is from by keeping it secret until NSD, you would be doing him and our team a favor by keeping it secret.
Auburn took a violation and kept a stud RB who was going to come to TN because he announced too early for us.
Dooley has great staff discipline on keeping their mouth shut, but he knows that right now he needs to sit on some of his best recruits and ask them to hold off until February.
With Bray and a potential bowl with lots of positive momentum, Dooley should have a fantastic close.
I love this board, I love the Big Fish threads, but unlike some in the media with exclusive blogs, I would much rather get a stud recruit and keep my mouth shut than build the buzz around a kid enough to cause a backlash that brings the pressure that makes him rethink things.
Somehow the really really hot girl saw through our glasses and saw that we were a really nice and gentlemanly guy who would show her a very nice time at Prom and treat her like a princess. While it is very tempting to tell everyone in the school, especially the other fellows in the math club and that jerk who mocks us in theater, if we do, the lacrosse captain and the basketball point guard will take a look at the hottie who they never realized they had a good shot with and make a run at her.
I really believe 4 years from now that TN will be a stud program again that can eschew "silents" and just pile up the 4 star kids while deciding between great talent. That day is not 2010. Let's be supportive of our team, and of our program, and let's not make it any harder on our staff than it already is thanks to Fulmer.
