When children are little and they shake presents before Christmas they are often unsurprised by their best presents because they guessed them and they are less excited because they have been counting on them for a while. When they guess incorrectly, ie that the toy guns and cowboy hat means that their parents got them a pony, they are very sad.

I think being a Vol recruiting fanatic is somewhat like that.

Will I be thrilled if we get Da'Rick Rogers and James Stone? No. That is somewhat absurd, and I do love Rogers, but I wanted lots of other OL above Stone and I am not convinced he can contribute early to our needs in the way a Cullen could.

So far,
1. J.C. Copeland to LSU was not a major surprise but was a minor disappointment.
2. Stanley to USC was not a surprise (given Crump's commit) but still made me want to punch Lane even harder.
3. Thornton to UGA should not have been a surprise. It is kind of like Lattimore to South Carolina. However I really wanted him.
4. Chaz Green to UF if it happens (which is all but certain) really sucks. He is an awesome OL and his parents are both UT grads.

I am holding out for a Quarles switch or something of that nature, but I am also reminding myself that I said when Dooley was hired we would finish at 9 or so, and for me to be disappointed if we finish at 9 or slightly above is absurd.

Dooley had the worst position in all of CFB for recruiting. He was able to hold together a top 10 class. That is amazing! We should be very grateful for that.

Agreed. I have to temper my disappointment in some positions with the reminder of spots we have(and hopefully will) gain combined with the postion CDD was put to begin with. That being said I wish sanctions on USC and explosive diahrea to the staff of USC...yup, all of them....even the debate team and Audio Visual Club.

Ralph Williams to Ole Miss
Christian Jones to FSU
you know you have a problem when you feel with either case like TN should have had them...We knew this was coming, yet I still think we should get Arie K...hahaha

This math class requirement has hurt us now with several JUCO guys who could have contributed, including Bruce Irvin, Stanley, and Cullen.

Damien Robinson to Miss State, expected.

Delvin Jones and Ralph Williams both to Ole Miss? Discussed but you cannot say you thought that D Jones, Ralph Williams and JC Copeland and Stanley would all decommit today...

At least we have room.

Here is to hoping that it is for more guys like Rogers and Stone and not just Glass and 2 more Crumps

I think you're the only person on this board that thought we had a shot with Christian Jones. I think he was a long shot even with Monte here, once he left it was game over.

Jeremy Crabtree:
With everybody in the dog-eat-dog recruiting world of the SEC coming after their kids, to keep together a top-10 class is nothing short of amazing. Then to go out and steal away the top player in Georgia away from the Dawgs on Signing Day? That's even more impressive. I know people expected doom and gloom for this staff, but I think they just proved that they're going to be a force to deal with in the SEC and the nation.
