Shame this tournament isn’t in Nashville

No, I’m just saying the excitement and ticket demand would be fun. Playing it in Tampa is a big nothing burger.

Which brings me to a question I was wondering about today. For those that have been to Tampa, is it a bigger city/ bigger market than Nashville? Try to leave out the biases. Are there more things going on in Tampa or Nashville that would take thw attention away from the tournament?

South Tampa/st Pete/ Clearwater all combined with beaches included beat Nashville imo

Yes. Tampa metro has about 3.5 million people vs 1.3 million for Nashville. It has beaches and multiple destination amusement parks nearby.

The SEC has a contract with Nashville to have the mens tournament in Nashville something like 16 out of 20 yrs. They will have it in other locations during the off year, this one being in Tampa. The yrs the men aren’t in Nashville, I believe the womens touranment is.

I didn't realize the womens tournament was at Bridgestone.

Tampa is a great spring break destination and the female cheerleaders will have a chance to work on their suntans next week at the tournament.

Might be bigger but for people to go to and party and have a blast, Nashville is beginning to be THE destination city for a lot of people from everywhere. Way more to do and get into in Nashville.

True, it is in Florida. I will not set foot in Florida unless it is a matter of life and death. Worst State in the Nation.

Florida is the only SEC school that is closer to Tampa than Nashville.

Atlanta, Birmingham, Charlotte, Memphis (Lol) are all better options.

The people who organize the tournament wanted a vacation on the beach! If I was retired I'd consider making a long weekend out of it.

But for the tournament, it doesn’t compare to Nashville. When you walk out of Bridgestone, you’re in the heart of downtown Nashville and all the fun it offers. When you walk out of Amalie Arena, there isn’t much.

Yes, but people love to go to the beach after a long winter or Disney. They will spend three hours at the arena and the rest of the time there doing one of those things. If you like music, Nashville is your place. Otherwise I'd vacation in Tampa/Clearwater area 10/10. Stay at the hotels along the Riverwalk and you can walk to the arena in a couple of minutes. It would be the biggest ticket demand of any in years with Ark coming back. Tenn &, of course, Ky fans would be there strong but add a big Arkansas demand and tickets would be tight.
Just the "Official Spit Cup" concession would have been worth $100K in Nashville.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’d much prefer the beach. But for things surrounding the game, Nashville crushes Tampa. Folks aren’t leaving those games, then trekking to the beach. They’re looking for nightlife.
