5'9, 185 lbs. 2 *
As a junior rushed for over 1,500 yds. and 30 tds.
Sophomore 1,200 yds.
AHSAA- honorable mention

Camped at Tennessee and Auburn. Chavis has visited him.
Top 5- UT, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Florida St
None of top 5 have offered (4 offers)

I live in the same town as this kid. He took Florence to its first state playoff in years, where they were eliminated by Hoover. Plays in a tough 6A district. We need to offer this kid while he is under the radar. Should have a great senior year and go further in playoffs.

his only offers are from Arkansas State, Troy, and Georgis Southern. That pretty much tells you all you need to know.

can I become a mod if I base evaluations solely on schools who are offering?

i understand that it would not be a "sexy" pickup outside of where I live, but he has put up awesome numbers in a region/district full of SEC talent.

yeah, let's offer this kid while we might get the 66 best prospect in the country that plays the same position in Eddie Lacy.

No, but maybe you can become a rivals employee based on your awsome and obviously unbiased scouting ability. Better yet maybe you can become a mod on Southward's facebook page.

The last sentence is pretty good. I have to admit that I laughed out loud. In all seriousness I understand the desire to rep the hometown boy, but let's be real.

I don't care if Lacy can't spell football. As long as he stays out of trouble, stays eligible, and plays 100%, let's sign him up. Better than a 2* prospect.

You know the only reason I started this thread is because he camped at UT and Chavis has visited him personally. I thought that was what the recruiting board was for. His recruiting is beginning to take off and is getting considered by UA, UGA, UT, UF. There is no doubt in my mind that if his senior year is as good as his jr, he will definitely be playing in the SEC next year. His size is the only thing holding him back, so it is very likely he overcomes the doubts and makes you guys eat crow. who knows, who cares at this point.

Eddie Lacy made a 14 on his ACT. No thanks.

I would imagine UT is working harder to get David Oku than Eddie Lacy but I could be wrong. Do you know Rex? I think LSU is leading for Lacy anyways.

I was in Florence,AL visiting some friends on a golfing trip so we went to a high school game.Shawn Southward was the running back for Florence High School. He was out there against a ranked team and it was like 1 against 11,with him being the 1 and he still was dominating as much as he could.I made All SEC in 94&95.When I tell you that he is the real deal,he is.Don't sleep on him.Think of Reggie Bush

Thanks former SEC Player. My opinion was based less on hometown connections an more on the level of play/talent of the division they play in. I could list 15 SEC players from it, but I don't have the time.

I will accept apologies starting now, cause when he signs with a SEC school in Feb, I am going to rip the hell out of all you "know it alls." Some of you guys take so much pride in discovering good recruiting info. But then when a guy sees him play, all you can do is bash the poster with basic info found on rivals, i.e. what schools have offered.

I grew up near there on the right side of the state line. Which Florence school does he attend? Historically speaking, there are some good players come out of that area. Some are just decent players on good teams.
