shotgun

I don't disagree with shotgun.
I think the earlier poster was right, its a matter of QB prefrence.
I am bias to running more than passing.
It was always easier for me to drop back and still keep my head up, than it was watching the ball in the gun.
I never did a 5 step drop, so cannot spek to that much.
I only did 3 step. Most of our plays were quick slants and toss sweeps.
With they plays I am familiar with running, being under center just seemed to give me more time.
Maybe it just seemed like more time to me.
That's why I brought it up in forms to the e11 QB guys .. lolz.
thanks again everyone.
I do feel better about the gun.

I'm pretty sure JD took at least one or two from under center against Alabama. Might have been on the goal line when Raijon ran it in.

Dobbs has played from the shotgun his entire career.
Putting him under center could create more problems than it would fix.

Dobbs proved in the Bama game he won't have any problems under center or the gun. He's as cool as a cucumber.
GO VOLS!

This kid may make the Iceman look like an Orange Creamcicle.
Had to chuckle at some of the comments by the lineman.
Paraphrase:
'He walked right into the game and took over. He wasn't even skeert..'
Too bad our defense couldn't say the same.

My only problem with UT lining up the QB in the shotgun is that we normally (with a high percentage of probability) pass in it - very predictable. If we'd take a page from another college or two, I'd love to see more sprint draw, shuffle pass (I know its a pass but its almost a hand-off) or QB keeper to be sprinkled in there nicely to keep the opposing D completely off balance.

I know coach has his system and I behind him 110 percent, but sometimes when its like third and 1 or 2 I wish we would just line that big OL up and just run the ball down there throat.

Hope we see very limited Shotgun formations Saturday.
Young QBs tend to do better under center, with more time to read the D.
Taking the snap in shotgun takes the QB eyes off the D for about 2-3 seconds.
Miz DEs are very fast and are quicker to QB in shotgun.
I trust our OC, but have to admit am a bit nervous about that one thing.
The zone read is normlly ran from the gun, I just hope that doesn't bite us.
I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts on drop?
Can all of our plays be ran from under center with. 2 or 3 step drop?
Dobbs having a fast release, helps with some concern, but its still bothering me a bit.
I'll hang up and listen.

I don't get what makes you think the gun cuts down read time and makes the QB an easier target. It does the exact opposite.

Seriously? I bet we run from the gun more than we throw from it.

Agreed. It's also harder to get to a qb from the gun. If forces the blitzing lbs to show themselves, and it also allows the RB to pick up A gap blitzes.

Yep . . . It's pretty much why the shotgun was invented.
