Consider buying out the Oklahoma game for the better of the program in the long run? I was upset when dooley backed out of unc but damn we have struggled to get to 4 wins so far this year. So would it be in the best interest to buy them out and play a weaker opponent at home or just man up and play them and risk getting blown out and losing confidence in the first few weeks of the season?

I don't see Coach Jones as the type to run from a fight. He will not back down from this one. Both here at home with the incredibly unreasonable fanbase or the one in Oklahoma.

The game that should have been bought out was this year's Oregon game. Tennessee plays a hard enough in-conference schedule. There is no reason why we should add to that with an out of conference team. Schedule an NC State, VTech, Oregon State, Minnesota, etc... These games are manageable. At least until this program gets its feet back under it. Losing seasons are doing nothing but hurting the cause.

I say let's play them. I'd play them right now if we could. Just a scrimmage game though that doesn't count.

I think they should. That game is early in the season and if we get blown out in Norman then it could kill the teams momentum. Schedule an ACC school or something instead. We have a hard enough schedule as is.

this game was scheduled many years ago and with current financial situation probably can't buy out. likely too late and too expensive now

I love playing the powerhouse programs but UT would benefit from buying out. Get an easy win and go to a bowl and continue to build. Even though we got stomped by Oregon both times we played them I enjoyed seeing UT play on the big stage against non-SEC teams and I'm sure the players enjoy playing in different places. I would rather play Oklahoma and hope to beat them rather than play a cupcake and get a lame win.

Knowing our luck we'd just lose to the cupcake we scheduled in their place. They'll be no better than 3-4 other SEC teams we'll play that year.

Vandy will never beat us coming off of a bye....

The only thing UT FB is consistent at in the last 5 years is setting new lows.

You don't sacrifice self-respect to lose to Oklahoma, but you durn sure do losing to a South Alabama or whomever-the-heck it was that beat Florida last Sat. Just scratching past South Alabama was bad enough.

one thing Butch needs to do next year is don't have any bye weeks. just play 12 straight games and get it over with. The bye weeks hurts more than it helps this staff and team.

You may have to revisit that post saturday night. This team doesnt do well when there are high stakes and they sure as hell dont do any better when theres nothing to play for
