IMO, Herbstreit put it best when he said that if every player on that team has to suffer because of what Reggie did, then Reggie should pay his price as well.

To me this is laughable. I don't think the Downtown Athletic Club really wants to go down the road of examining the behavior of agents and boosters as it pertains to the winners of the Heisman. I highly doubt that Reggie Bush is the first winner with shady dealings.

Vacated probably. Herbstreit made a compelling case, but GAVol is right. Bush should lose his trophy but I doubt he will.

This likely stops at vacated wins.

Winners never cheat and cheaters never win. Bush knew all of the perks his family was getting were against the rules.

Vince Young should have won it anyways. If all this is happening to USC, he should, but I doubt it.

Bush didn't cheat to get the trophy.. He just chose his college because of some incentives..

He still won the award.. I say he keeps it

I'm back and forth on it honestly

the issue's going to be he was ineligible during the time he won the trophy

I really think he might be used to make an example though

no, it still doesn't take away what he did on the field.

did OJ's ever get revoked? I know it was sold but he's still listed on the site

what?

why would they take away OJs? Committing a crime years after one's professional career doesn't at all relate to one's college career

I mean sorry, but the comparison doesn't make sense :ermm:

and how did Bush's parents living in a nice house affect his play? Steroids, bionic arms, etc I could see but he was still ridiculous on the field (and made a bunch of $$$ for USC while there which he never saw)

i'm asking why your comparison even made sense in your mind though?

yes this is just a side rule being broken of not paying your players and he and the school are being made an example b/c of it....but at least the time reference for this (when he was breaking NCAA rules) is at the same time as the game was being played

you used a comparative example of something that happened to OJ Simpson almost 30 years after his college career was over...heck he was even done with pro football at that time

i'm not arguing yes or no, but the comparison makes no sense

good grief it was just a question not a graded paper. I have a pretty firm grasp on the difference now though so thanks. Murder != free rent

My point is that both did something that had no effect on what happened on the football field and both are from SC.

It was determined that he was ineligible at the time he won the award, therefore he was ineligible to win the award.

The Heisman is for what you do on the field of play - no more, no less. Vince Young will not accept it. Let him keep it.
