It just seems to me some of these guys get in there and you can't force them out.Thoughts?

I vote "no." I don't like arbitrary things like that -- whose to say how old is too old for that job?

You don't think a guy still has "iit," then fire him for that reason. Don't hide behind some rule on age as an excuse.

Coaches have contracts that have easy outs for the most part. They have fired coaches for much less then age. Mostly performance based. That is what it should be based on. You can be 102 and still win games or 45 and lose them all.

It seems to me that if a guy is still coaching at 70+, it must be because he knows what he's doing.

Living in Tallahassee (home to FSU and Bobby Bowden) I've heard the age limit talk at least once or twice.

I don't think that you can limit ages but I hate to see a coach who pits the schools future against his own past...some people should just let go. Take JoePa, sure he had a good year last year, but could the school have done better the last 5 years if they had someone other than the old man?

That sounds illegal. If it's not, it should be. Being old doesn't prevent you from getting fired. If Penn State really wanted to get rid of Paterno, they could.

Seems like other coaches have to pick up more of the slack.Seems as Bear may have hung around too long.I heard some PSU fans wanted Paterno out years ago.Really don't hear that much with Bowden I will say I think functional age is very important. You can be an old 40 or a young 50.So I guess if any coach is still on the top of his game, so be it.Just as long as the ego doesn't stand in their way.

i don't think there should be an age limit. if they aren't being forced out, it probably isn't that bad of a situation that you have. i bet penn state fans are happy they gave paterno a little more time. if i was paterno i would have retired after that season, but he is happy there, and it seems the fan base is in no rush to get rid of him at the moment.
