Should We Really Expect a lot of 1-3-1

From what I know of this zone it is good for shutting down the 3. If Michigan watches any tape against us they will immediately see that they want us shooting 3s. Hell even if they looked at the box score they will see that. I think they could trap our guards well with a 1-3-1, but I think it will open up lanes for Scotty to drive and Tobias will have good looks down low. Personally I have no idea why teams do not consistently run 2-3 zones on us. What do you guys think?

I expect quite a bit of passive 1-3-1 that doesn't trap the corners. Beilein tends to be gimicky in his approach both offensively and defensively. I'd say he'll mix it in with some sluffing man that doubles Harris everytime he gets it on the block.

I was thinking the same thing. Tennessee is a horrible three point shooting team, so why wouldn't they want us to shoot them.

I think we'll see it some. Beilein probably doesn't want to give us the opportunity to get hot from three. They'll probably let Tobias get his and try to shut everyone else down.

A couple things: to the op, who thinks the 1-3-1 shuts down the three, the 1-3-1 leaves wide open corner threes, that is one of its two biggest flaws(though not in this case) the other being that it kills rebounding(a big deal in this case). Next, if you actually watch michigan play a game, they ran man to man the entire year and only played 1-3-1 for about ten minutes against Kansas which forced OT, and then maybe for thirty other possessions the rest of the season.
