3rd best 3 point shooter in NBA history.

I believe he still holds the record for 3's in Tennessee but i cant remember.

But anyways, Good enough to retire his jersey?

3 pt percentage? Doesn't Lofton hold the record for most 3s made?

Not sure he spent any seasons at UT with a three line. Regardless, he wasn't a long range shooter at UT. He was deadly from 18 and in and was uber quick.

When they put the three-point line in (85? 86?) , all I could think about was what that team from a few years earlier with Ellis and Michael Brooks could have been like. Damn.

You are correct. Brooks would have scored a ton of points with a 3 pt. line. Ellis was incredible from 18 in. Ellis did his work with a few other players to help him as opposed to Houston who had no help. Personally, if I had to take one or the other, give me Ellis any day of the week because he could do it all, offense, defense, rebound. Houston could score but he couldn't or wouldn't guard a fresh baked pie.

Ellis never shot from outside much at UT because he had to play freaking center. The guy was just a complete basketball player.

Ellis never shot a 3 in his UT career.......They didn't have the 3 point shot when he played.....At least at the college level...They were just beginning to experiment with it some in smaller conferences like the WAC

Michael Brooks might have easily been the best 3 point shooter at UT..IF they had the 3 point shot back then..That guy was money from downtown!

I used to love that jump hook he had inside. He had just a great presence and balance and it was almost impossible to block. Then he went to the NBA and completely changed his game to a 3 pt shooter. Definitely retire his jersey.
