Shrine Bowl Day 1 Performers

Think I read somewhere that this will be the weakest Shrine Bowl in years. Something about weak instate talent on both sides and NC/SC State Championships are this weekend. Will be interesting to see who comes out of nowhere this week there. Always seems to be one.

Both are true. The playoffs got pushed back because of flooding in the lower part of the state, so the State Championship is on the same weekend because of that.

It's interesting my good friend and former coach/teacher was set to be the head coach for the NC team this weekend, but my high school team is representing the west in the 1-A title game. The title games and shrine bowl are occuring on the same weekend due to Hurricane Matthew and the NCHSAA deciding to delay the start of playoffs a week. So now Coach G is going for state title number 7 instead of coaching the S.B. game. He was very much looking forward to coaching some of these guys that I know Tennessee is still in on. I believe the state is allowing him to coach the 2017 team next year.

Why did they decide to play the games(state title & Shrine Bowl) at or ~around the same time I wonder? That messed his chance up at coaching both games.

It has something to do with Hurricane Matthew and both states deciding to delay their playoffs week. So it really messed up coaches and players who were supposed to participate in the S.B.game, but also made it to their classification state title game.
