Was checking out Stuart Mandel's latest bowl projections, and now for at least two weeks in a row, he does NOT have us listed in Shrevport or Nashville....nor anywhere else for that matter...

I guess our win over Memphis w/out D Williams wasn't enought for him to include us in Post Season play, or he figures that even if we're bowl eligible the lesser bowls that will have a shot at us won't go near us for fear of poor fan turnout....that couldn't POSSIBLY be the case could it? :shades:

Mandel doesnt like UT, he's loving this season I imagine. He will be reminding vol fans of this season for years to come.

Northwestern would hang about 40 on us.

Northwestern would probably hand it to us.

I think Ainge could even look like a Heisman candidate against Northwestern's defense. And don't forget that Northwestern will have not seen speed on defense like Tennessee's.

ALLVOL it don't matter! Don't you know that UT is the worst team ever assembled by a college! These guys are right. Perhaps we should not even play the last two games and then just tear down Neyland and turn it into much needed parking for students and do away with UT football. That would show them right guys!

Give me a break. I thought bammers were bad when there team was down. Hell we have one bad year and the wagon is very empty.

As I opined in a different string, the bowl reps want to invite teams on the way UP, not DOWN. :shades:

I don't think it's so much that we're stopped by good defense, more than ours is inept. UAB and Memphis have worse defenses than Northwestern, and it's not exactly like we took it to the house against those two teams.

?????? Left coast math?????

UAB is 44th in total defense (354.44 ypg) Vols had 412 yards of offense.

Memphis is 96th (424.22 ypg) Vols had 341 yards of offense.

But Northwestern.... is 116th (487.20 ypg) :mf_surrender:

even Vanderbilt (75th) and Kentucky (107) have a better defense than Northwestern.

While Northwestern's defense is horrible... so is our offense. Their big o and our big d would probably cancel each other out. No way Basanez would put up huge numbers against UT.

Bottom Line. For whatever reason, whatever didn't gel, or whatever broke, or whatever reason Ainge or Clausen sowed up the QB spot and failed to hold it while we were still kicking, we had a bad year. Period. Only the second of 2 certified bad years I can remember going back to Majors last stand. That ain't bad. Frustrating? Yes. We do have top talent, and that's what makes it a mystery. It would be an easier pill to swallow if we were rebuilding and looking for talent such as FSU or PSU or Nebraska, or Oklahoma, but we are, and always have been loaded in talent. So, we expect more.
