SI greatest Freshman of all time

They're actually ranking Barnes as the best freshman of all time. Bernard comes in second on their list.

I can't believe they left Pistol Pete off the list. He had better numbers and skills than any of the others.

I don't believe they're ranked in any particular order. I think it's just a collection of notable freshmen over the years.

Where did you get that picture for your avatar?

Yah great pic lol. I'd say since he's from the Bay area that its a car from Cali. The shame is I bet they got 30,000 in that car lol. Looks like it has 24's @ least on it from the little bit I can see of the rear wheel. It's been popular for a while not to jack a cutlass or any 80's big rectangle car up in the air and put tires the size of Big Rigs on em, if not bigger. Low pro but rim size wize......

I don't think anyone's saying Barnes is the best. He was just on the first slide, which said he has a bit to accomplish to be ranked among some of those other names.

Weird list. Pervis Ellison?

According to that logic, if Tobias Harris averages 20 and 10 in the tournament which I think is very possible, and takes UT to its first Final Four which I also think is possible, he becomes one of the greatest freshmen of all time?

My pick would be Lew Alcindor, the best frosh to ever play the game even though frosh were not allowed to play on the varsity. The UCLA freshman team beat a top 10 UCLA varsity team in an exhibition game. His high school exploits are legendary.

Barnes may be a good player, but ranking him among the best based on averaging 22 points in 2 Bahamain exhibitions is crazy. Drew Barham, a slow, white boy from Memphis, averaged over 20 a game on the Tiger exhibition trip.

If that Final Four results in a National Championship and MOP award, then yes.

Kind of surprised Derrick Rose was not in there (unless they don't recognize 2008 Memphis which would be pathetic). He turned it up in the tournament and was amazing outside of the last 5 seconds of the season.
