So what? :censored: him! He'll be singing a new song Saturday at 9:00pm. I love how the article is slanted like we have already lost the game. California "championship caliber" horse :censored:

I'm done reading articles till Sunday.

They can say what they want I'd bet my house, car, n bank account that Cal will not play for the national championship

This seems like a pretty fair and balanced article to me. Is it the title of the article that's getting you guys so fired up? That's what a title of an article is supposed to do - grab your attention.

In the article itself, he basically says that UT will either beat Cal and gain a lot of momentum leading into the rest of their season or they'll lose to Cal, which could very well lead to the walls caving in on this team. I think that both of those assessments are realistic.

I don't think this game will make or break the season. Period.

If we win we are 1 and 0 and if we lose we will be 0 and 1. The end of the season is what matters. Losing to a cupcake team is one thing. Losing to a top 10 team is another.

BTW, I'm really shocked that you liked the article 423. lol

I didn't say that I like the article. I just said that I think it's a fair article. I agree that the Cal game will largely set the tone for this season. If we win, it will give us momentum going into the Air Force and, more importantly, the Florida game. If we lose, this team could implode. After a 5-6 season last year, this team needs to get off to a good start in order to build confidence. If we were to lose to Cal and to Florida, then the finger pointing could get out of control in a hurry. We need to win this Cal game badly.

Then came the 5-6 disaster, and after another arrest and incident this spring, Fulmer went ballistic and threw water bottles in a team meeting.

For real??

I totally agree with him. Cal to an extent will be our season. I dont want to ever go through another 2005. Not just because we lost 6 games but because we looked like a team out of control. I never seen a Offense look so bad with that much talent.

Damn I dont even want to think about it happening again.

This is a sure measuring stick for what we are and how we can compete. I do not believe that one lose will set us in a tail spin. Cal is a very talented team and the VOLS will have their hands full, lf Cal were to win and I repeat IF Cal were to win, it doesn’t signal Glom and despair for the season. As for the off field troubles I believe the ones from this year were by freshman except Jim Bob and you see where the freshman are now. I don’t believe we have lost sight off last years disaster and there are a bunch of P- - - - - off Volunteers who know they have a lot to prove.

So let’s measure up and get this one in the “W” column and all these sports writers can kiss off, or eat some crow.

His point may have been made about the importance of the game, however, I disagree with the points he makes in between the title and the point he gets to at the end. When a team finishes 5-6, it gets very easy to focus on everything negative. This author probably did not watch all 11 games from last season, nor the 13 the previous season. Had he watched both seasons, he would have seen the fine line between winning and losing close games. He would have seen how what he calls "surface changes" would have amounted to a probably back-to-back run at an SEC title. And how the "surface changes" might very well send the Vols back to the SEC Championship Game which they participated in 2004. He probably didn't even research the seasons following 1998, to see regular seasons in '99 of 9-2, '00 8-3, '01 10-2, '02 8-4, '03 10-2, and '04 9-3. Those seasons are a tier below a national championship season, however, they do not represent a spiraling down to the depths of the NCAA. For that you can look at the Washington Huskies as an example.
