SIAP:Can Tennessee Handle Georgia Or Alabama Again?

That’s a pretty dumb talking point. Can we beat someone we already beat? Could we beat pitt, fl, lsu again? Of course we could.

Of course we can beat anyone at this point - no doubt about that. My biggest worry is Kentucky - they hate us (biggest game of the year for them almost every year), and did give us problems last year where we had very little possesion time and game came down to the wire. No doubt they will try that approach again given they have a great RB. I think the key is to stop the running game and let them complete some passes as a trade-off to make sure we get enough posessions on offense (everone else does complete a lot of passes against us anyhow so we can probably live with that and win comfortably). But if we only get to keep the ball 13 or so min like last year this could be a very tough game to win (can't always score 40+ points with that little possesion time). UGA is obviously better than UK but we won't be favored at their place and even if we lose it's not going to ruin this amazing season (Kentucky and/or God forbid SCjr losses would taint big time what has been acomplished this year - coaches know all this for sure and are preaching staying focused to the team which so far does seem mature enough to handle it).

There is still a lot of room for improvement and they seem to be improving every week. Can the other teams keep up is a better question?

Yes. I'd say we are at a small overall disadvantage on total team talent but have a small overall advantage with our scheme and key players.

We should be in a toss up game with Bama, UGA, OSU etc. All about the breaks

Tennessee can beat anyone. They aren't good enough to overlook many teams, but can still beat anyone. If Tennessee stays on point, this will be a title run.

Another advantage is Heupel is out coaching the opposite coach in the game that day.

I think our talent disadvantage to those teams is quite large actually but then again so is our advantage when it comes to scheme, in-game coaching, etc.

We will get healthier and in turn get better. Our players will also continue to develop during the season under a great coaching staff that places an emphasis on teaching. Unless the injury bug raises its head, there is no one we cannot flat out beat once back to full strength. Our game plan and execution are simply on another level this year.

If our secondary can get just a tad bit better we’d be deadly. I appreciate everyone’s effort on both sides of the ball, but we would have beat FL & Bama by multiple scores if we made some stops on 3rd/4th down

Kentucky is a worse team this year than they were last year. We’re better than we were last year. And this year it’s at home.

Our early line is -14, that will be a routing.

I agree we are better and they are worse than last year - however they still beat Florida so can't be that bad no matter how bad Florida is - we still had problems with them as well. The one really bad loss UK had was against SCjr at home, but that was without staring QB who will be playing against us. Having said all this it's up to us to play really well and should not be an issue - but anything other than us playing our A game could be a problem. Playing at home will help for sure - if the atmosphere is anywhere close to Bama or UF it will be a huge home field advantage and of course if Tillman is available that will be huge.

If the defense can continue to make improvements the whole country should worry.
This ^^^^^
It is the key to turning short term success into long term dominance. We are going to have offensive off weeks, especially in September 2023 working in a new QB. Defense gives you the support to make that transition

I think playing top-ranked teams comes down to the breaks and who presses and makes them. We can beat anyone, and we can beat them again. In the same breath, I do not wish to replay any team this season because I think a big part of our scheme advantage is that it cannot be replicated in their practice. Once they have played us and have tape, it narrows the gap, and we are still at a disadvantage in some talent matchups. Plus, not playing teams twice means you get to kick more asses.

We have other teams to handle before we think Ga. Or Alabama. Let's stay the course!!
