Answer is no, but makes for a provocative title.
I can make a short story long, so bear with me. I grew up and lived most of my days in Alabama. I've seen plenty of UT-Bama games where the Vols were visitors, but that was Legion Field Days. I've only attended 1/2 game in Bryant Denny (2003, we won in 5 overtimes, but I missed that part). I took my two boys on a last minute whim. At the time they were age 6 and 8. We found tickets on the fifty about 20 rows up on the east side (in the sun) for face value out on the street.
Little did I know, my 6 year old was sick. Sitting in the sun, he started melting down with fever - at half we got out of the sun and went to the concourse to evaluate. Command decision, he's burning up with fever and we had to leave. (we would have stayed if I listened to my 8 year old, he was wet hen mad when we left the stadium).
Something dawned on me as I sat on the 50 at Bryant Denny. I am a pretty long way from the field. And the slope of the stands I think is not as steep as Neyland, which quickly gets you further away from the field as well.
To make this point, I'll show in Google Earth.
The start point will be where the 50 yard line hits the boundary. Bryant Denny , the stands are 80 feet back.
Now we travel to Rocky Top. Distance is about 48 ft. (Puts fans/loundness a little closer), which is good, but wait till you see Norman.
The only reason I even thought about posting this was watching the "block out of bounds" penalty we had last Saturday night in Norman. I was listening to the VOL network and I think it was Pat Ryan saying how little room they had even for the bench. Nowhere to go when the play flows into the boundary there. Here it is.
No more that 25 feet for the team and med tent and all the gear. Wow, no room to hide on that sideline!
To wrap, the story of the 5 OT - I made it to Birmingham in time watch the Overtime.. Missed the whole second half and had to listen to Eli Gold on the way to my buddies house. They were doing the coin toss for OT when we walked in. Buddy is an Auburn fan and the Auburn game was starting, so he accommodated me somewhat reluctantly. So I have officially seen one half of a game at Bryant Denny. (and mathematically, if you count the over time, I saw about a third of the game).
