why not? we aint gonna climb back into the top 25 in recruiting with out gruden. even though i am sure jay graham is giving it his all for us. we know the players like chaney.

i think he would be better than these bleepin' acc and wac coaches that everyone loves and certainly better than petrino. there aint that many opitions. i don't like chaney's play calling sometimes but we are gonna have to do something...

I agree with the OP. No more up and comers! If you can't get the rock star now then follow what Arky did and give someone a 1 year deal and keep the powder dry for the time being.

Tennessee and Arkansas are apples and oranges though. Arkansas had no choice but to go the interim route. Petrino flew off the bike in April.

If it were not for his haircut I would be on board but Chaney does not have head coach hair. He looks creepy. I really really like him as an OC as long as I don't have to see him. His haircut alone will always prevent him from moving past OC.

I think keeping him one more year might give us a leg up on the coaching search next year and he is no worse then many of the other candidates listed. I would rather have chaney for one year then Fisher for five.

F it give him a chance.

That is my response to all the possibilities at this point. Don't want to drop down to the Dooley level again.

I'd take a year with Chaney over an "up and comer". If we can't land a big hire this year, then we should just hold off before settling just to have a new coach.

I thought it was just me.

Actually, I'd rather have Chaney as an interim than most of the candidates I keep seeing for a longterm hire. Of course, it only works if you replace the AD in the meantime. If Hart can't land Gruden or Patterson this year, who is he going to land next year?

That may just be the worst idea I've heard so far.

Not really there big mod.. He has a valid point.. No need to waste our money and time to settle for another second-tier coach to put us in another 5 year hole. Might as well save money for a home run next year if it comes down to it.
