What was the infamous one-liner made by Steve Kiner that led to a real thumping of the then #2 ranked Vols.

What question did a reporter ask that produced the response?

What team was it?

What was the year?

And what was Steve's now infamous reply to a local sport's writer that didn't set well with the opposing team? You will be graded. :biggrin2:

Archie WHO???? :shakehead:

Yes, that's part of it. But a sports writer asked a question, and Steve uttered a one liner after the Archie Who comment.

And yes, Hat, it was Ole Miss 69.

Does anyone know the response?

I think somewhere in there he also made a reference to Ole Miss and mules. It was not good.

Final score: Ole Miss 38 - Vols Nada

Didn't we get beat something like 38-0?

You're getting very, very warm. :D

Hillbilly is very close.

A reporter, interviewing Steve the week of the game asked, "Some people say Ole Miss, with Archie Manning, has the horses to win the conference."

To which Steve replied, "Archie Who?"

And, as if that wasn't enough, he went on to say, "Some people go down on the farm and they can't tell the horses from the mules."

On game day, someone flew over the stadium at Ole Miss and dropped Archie Who? button's out.

It was a disaster. We lost 38 to zip.

My how times have changed. Try that now and a fighter jet squadron will escort you to the ground and see to it that you'd never fly again...

He most certainly did saw a car a part. I can't remember the model.

Jack was a loner, didn't hang with many people and that was his way of letting off steam.

Alright, so somebody tell me, did Jack Reynolds really take a hacksaw to a VW beetle after a loss?

Since asking this, I have learned from someone who was around back then that yes he did. But it was a jeep, and he just cut the fenders off. Great old story, good to finally have clarification...
