Since There’s No Rhyme or Reason to the Season…

Clearly we’re not as good as Bama, but since when does that always determine the outcome of a game? Basically right now, we’re where KY was at when they came into TBA, hungry like the wolf. We’ll be playing for our basketball lives, and I won’t be all that surprised if we beat Bama. The recipe for a win is totally there.

Im not surprised by much of anything anymore, but it will take probably one of our best games of the year. I do think Mo would have given AL a heck of a game today though.

Yeah I watched Mizzou play Bama a couple weeks ago and they were cold as ice and lost by 21 pts. Looked back at the stats and they were 3/28 from 3. Mizzou was 14/26 from 3 tonight with only 7 turnovers. If you’re shooting over 50% from 3 it’s hard to lose a game. There have only been 2 games all season TN has allowed the opponents to shoot 40% or higher from 3 and they were Candy/Mizzou this week. The next closest was 33% to USC back in November.

I’m not worried about this team at all. Mizzou just had an absolute shooters dream of game. I’m not counting us out against Bama. It’s going to be a fight.

We’ll prolly hamma Bama.

I’m not expecting that with JJJ and JP injured. But I also wasn’t expecting Woolridge, Weezy, McThree, and Josh Bone to hit 9 of 15 3s and put the whoopin’ on #1 Kansas. Swiper Boy also grabbed 8 boards and had zero turnovers and fouls in 34 minutes.

JJJ is a non factor either way . The guy is overrated. Not even a good player .

You should be, This team along with every team out there. The last 2 games should lead you to understand, you can lose to anyone...

I took a step back after last nights roller coaster. Looking at where this team was ranked pre-season, I think we got a little too excited. Barnes has a history of getting his teams up to play early season, out of conference, big games. They did well, and with the lack of dominant teams, it wasn’t that hard to move up. Now, our overall record isn’t that much different than Mizzou or UF. Those big wins are losing their luster.

Last night, Missou got hot shooting. They made an inordinate amount of contested shots. That’s two games in a row where teams flung anything and it went in. Two buzzer beater losses take me back to Buzz ball. Very similar feel.

Once again we have suspect officiating. Yes, we won the FT battle, but that doesn’t tell the story. Another game where Vescovi is thrown to the floor and nothing called. Another blatant charge called a block.

Vescovi missing free throws to seal a game is another bad sign, and shows his lack in clutch situations. Really frustrating as with his experience he should be helping more. This was a guy teams were specifically scheming against. He just seems like another body at this point.

Phillips will never make it in the SEC with his style of play. He’s a finesse player. Honestly, if I were him, I’d transfer. I don’t know what it is about the SEC but they should have those guys in pads and helmets. He’s too frail to have any long term offensive success.
Missouri looked like it had a bunch of middle linebackers playing out there. That’s why Awaka has transitioned so well. He’s one of the few that has the build.

I still don’t think this is a loss we can dwell on. Missou hit shots despite tight defense. It was good to see key wake up. He was the primary reason for the comeback.

The biggest takeaway is this was a first year coach versus one of the most experienced in the country. You wouldn’t have known that by watching the game. In fact, that’s two games in a row where a first year coach has bested Barnes.

So, if Mizzou shoots the same % against Alabama as they did against us they beat the Tide by 15.

Ebbs and flows. I think the key is to not get too high or low and keep focusing on getting better. Second half last night was one of the better offensive performances I’ve seen this season. And so was the first half for mizzou

My biggest concern is in these 3 losses, we have a veteran team that got a lead late in the second half and we couldn't put the other team away.

Skip the Bama game. Guaranteed loss. We aren’t as good as we think. No consistency. No control. Hands tied by Barnes.

I share your concern, and we may lose, but there’s no such thing as a guaranteed win or loss until the clock hits 0:00.
