Lord I have been out West for too long. When I left the South, Kentucky (along with Vandy) was everyones favorite homecoming opponent and there were high schools with better facilities. Now they have a new stadium and people who more or less know what they are doing. Mark Stoops is doing a good job up there.

Snake oil. Every year they play cupcakes the first half of their schedule to get everyone excited and then go on a 6 or 7 game losing skid. Don't get too excited.

Kentucky is definitely getting better but both of those teams last night were middle of the road. Some really great individual efforts just not really good teams.

They still have a long way to go before it's a destination job. A good coach will leave there for greener pastures.

Exactly. Later in the year Kentucky always gets worn down because they don't have the talented depth to still compete late in the year with the Tennessee's, Georgia's, ect. Last night you saw typical Kentucky: Auburn is a talented team even though they are a mess right now so the more talented team just out-talented Kentucky.

Let's see. KY needed a crazy comeback to beat EASTERN Kentucky at home in OVERTIME.

KY lost at home to a bad Auburn team (that nearly lost at home to Jacksonville State).

They did beat Mizzou, which is the only thing of note they've accomplished.

Yes, KY is great! Not, they once again have our reverse schedule. Easier at the beginning, hard at the end. They will flame out against tougher competition just like last year.

This is all true and they teased even more than this under Rich Brooks. In 2007, they actually beat the eventual BCS Champion LSU and were 6-1 and ranked #8 in the country and even gave Florida a decent game. We needed several overtimes to beat them ourselves. They also beat Florida St (crippled by suspensions) in the Music City Bowl. I give them credit for all of the renovations to Commonwealth Stadium but as for their team? Same old Kentucky.

I'm sure Auburn is resurging, but they're still not very good. I was thinking the opposite, that I'm not impressed.

Of course, UT couldn't even beqt Arkansas, so just because they beat an overrated UGAly team doesn't mean we should be super confident about our guys.

Kentucky has a good coach and they are playing well. They have a pretty good team and have been a play or two from winning all of their games.

I hope our offense shows up against ky because they will give our D some trouble. And in their eyes, we are their Alabama.

Mmmkay....but you really would have to say the same thing about Tennessee then. (Not that VN has any rule against being blatantly inconsistent)

I am not following you. They do not have the talent we have. I do think they play hard, are well coached and they have also upgraded talent. Kentucky is an improved football program under Stoops

You can't say that Kentucky is a good team and a well coached team for losing close games and not say the same thing about Tennessee. Why is that logic hard to follow? ...and hasn't Tennessee also upgraded their talent under Butch Jones? Let's be consistent.

Arkansas is a much better team than their W/L shows and the hit they took for losing to Toledo which is #22 at this time. Also played tough game against A&M ( 21-27 ). Arkansas is possibly one of best teams we played so far this season. They did play Alabama pretty well in Tuscaloosa holding them to 10 through 3rd, until breaking down in the 4th.

I didn't say they were THERE, yet. Just that they are making an effort to get better...

Right now, I feel like Kentucky is where Tennessee was under Dooley: pretty good first 11 on both sides of the ball but not enough depth to finish the job in the SEC.

Difference is, that is a high point for KY. It was a low point for the Vols.

Since when is Florida, Missouri, and Auburn cupcakes in the first 6? 2015 was much harder than 2014 through the start to middle. And we still have Charlotte/Vandy left.

High point for UK was when we were winning 7 or 8 games with guys who didn't even get looked at by other schools. Brooks did wonders with not much talent. We were actually decent before Joker stepped into the HC role.

They do not have sec level pass catchers. Number of drops was ridiculous

I'm not sure either of those teams should be described as anything more than average

Also, is 7 players on the field during a crucial punt really considered solid coaching?

One of the funniest and stupidest moments I've ever seen by UK. No idea why Stoops wasn't on top of that. I guess they were thinking Auburn was going for it. Our defensive subbing was terrible all night though with the hurry up.

I thought that very same thing last night during the game (probably when they had 8 players on the field for a punt!!)
