did baseball players become to good to run to first base? It kills me to see some slacker jogging to first on a popup or a grounder because they think they are too good to run. Hell, get on your horse and maybe force a wild throw. But nooo, people like Manny Ramirez think that it's time to head straight back to the dugout if they don't find a gap or hit a homerun. Those players just rub me the wrong way.

End of rant

You don't always get thrown out. 9/10 times you do, but the one time you don't can be a game breaking moment if it starts a rally. Just saying, if it was me, I'd run it out just in case.

it is so uncool to run your ass off only to get thrown out.

When you give a shortstop all the time in the world then heck yeah you are going to have your lazy ass thrown out. Show some hustle and try to make the fielder force something and make a mistake

See: the play that just happened when Jeter actually ran to first on a grounder to Furcal

evidently my sarcasm was not picked up on, i was referencing how Manny just wants to look cool out there ( ie saggy uniform, no hussle, barely plays defense )

A lot of times you can hear bobby Cox actually yelling from the dugout for guys to take it easy going down the line on easy ground balls.

I don't how he thinks any of those make him look cool, they kind of make him look like a chump. The saggy uniform especially...It is awful looking.

Baserunning as a whole is pretty awful recently, fundamental mistakes costing runs, getting picked off, and a general lacksidasical (sp) attitude towards that aspect of the game.

It just ticks me off. You get paid millions of dollars to play baseball when firefighters make terrible money to risk their lives. You can at least bust your ass to get down the line
