Do yall not realize that mal was already in on them kids before he left. He wasnt removed from program more than a year. He got put in a great situation. You cant compare ut vrs auburns class. Yea they sucked last year but these high school kids still remember cam and the national championship. And not us being irrelevant in the last five years. Either get on board with butch or go support another team! We have who we have and got to give them our support. Go vols!

as i said in another thread, i don't think people are upset because they necessarily expected a great class.

i think people are upset because this pushes the time table back on the rebuilding process and people are tired of waiting

I don't even think it's that well formed a thought process. It's just primal anger at this point. Nothing ever goes right for Tennessee and everyone's just bitter. It's Charlie Brown and the football. If Bell had just announced for Bama or OSU two weeks the mood around here would be a lot better.

I know its from a Gator so most people will bash him, but really this is what I think most the issues boil down to. I think Butch will do well, but having a strong recruiting class to spring board his run would have been really nice.
So now people are gonna be back in a wait in see mode till the season starts, which is a long time to wait again.

Aub started in a worst place than UT, ended up #10 by Rivals. Facts are facts.

What? Auburn had Lawson for a long time, and even lost recruits a few big recruits. Chizick may have sucked at coaching, but he had a bunch of recruits on board when he was fired

There's just no room for error or mediocrity anymore. Half our class couldn't see the field for the likes of Bama, LSU, FL, GA etc the next three years. This is why people get mad. Excuses are excuses. Go to Knoxville and look how amazing our new facilities are. Ask around and just see for yourself just how many VOL fans are willing to give so much, but they won't right now because UT's product stinks. People are deciding between UT football and going out and eating, and people aren't getting skinner. Sixty bucks is a lot of money for so many people these days. It's a real blessing to be able to go to UT games, but people aren't going to spend 100s of dollars to see Bama beat us by 30. It doesn't make them any less VFL but money is tight. You can't keep asking this fan base to bend and give it just one more year when we have been giving it six years now without a descent product. People have lost hope in our administrators like Dave Hart who refuse to bend to the wants of so many donors and spend the millions for a big, proven staff. Half the people haven't even heard of our DC/OC before. Jay Graham is probably the most known coach we have at the moment to our normal fans who don't spend hours on Volnation finding out details about our staff. You can't keep asking for more and more without giving something back. UT is heading toward a stadium filled of 65,000 fans instead of 100,000 fans if they keep showing up and not being competitive for four quarters. The normal Joe who isn't a crazy VFL like all of us on here aren't going to spend their time watching UT get beat in the fourth quarter every game because they have no depth etc. You may at first say that aren't true VFL, but it's the average Joe that keeps UT from being millions more in debt. So, I speak for the average Joe. I say give us something worth watching. Give us something that we can hang our heads high about. We aren't asking for 10 wins next year, but we are asking to be competitive. We are asking to quit throwing the excuses out for every coach his first two years. Ole Miss, Vandy, and A&M have won so much more then us with so much less. We ask that you understand that UT has the 4th biggest stadium, 3rd some say still debate between us and OSU, in college football, and some of the nicest facilities man can make. We say there is no tomorrow. We say that we can't just keep saying there's always next year, as next year isn't a given. We say let's fight as one and drop the BS excuses as to why UT needs another three years to win. We say the time to win is NOW! We say let's rise to the top and not be perceived as losers and show some heart and give it all for Tennessee. We say lets rise to the top and unite as one and put a product on the field that isn't a dollar short or a week late.

Could have been a good post had you started at the ending and stopped.

You would miss the entire point that UT is putting out a product that screams mediocrity, and with mediocrity comes a mediocre fan base. No fans no money.

It's odd. This guy has some of the most rational posts on here sometimes.

Malzahn may have been in on a few recruits before he left (Jeremy Johnson in particular) but he still was able to land many excellent defensive recruits. He certainly wasn't recruiting defenders like Lawson and Montravius as the OC w/ Chiz. At the end of the day Malzahn & Co. outperformed CBJ and his staff in almost every way with their first recruiting class. CBJ has to step it up.

Yeah I've heard/read all about it from a billion different angles. That's my point

WTF did you really expect today? A new coach on the job for 60 days after 3 years of Dooley and a 5-7 record? Like it or not the man needs and deserves at least a year to make a difference. Everyone wants Dooley fired and then all hell breaks loose on the new coach after 60 days. Dayum just insane

What I expected was a coaching staff that didn't put all their eggs in one basket aka Bell, Lawson, etc and be left scrambling the day before NSD trying to get a former ECU RB and some DL to fill this class.

CJG had Jabo Lee in camp in SC when he was a sophomore and was extremely impressed with his skills. Dude got hurt and didn't play half of his senior year and wasn't a 4 star on paper because of it. I really think you will be surprised by Jabo Lee. He is a beast!

By now, who does not know that Auburn pays a lot of money for recruits? Everybody knows, so why do people keep talking like they don't know?
