For the past 4 or 5 days have had a ton of pressure in my head driving me nuts. Monday it got so bad it made me extremely lightheaded and to the point I felt like I was going to pass out. Went to ER and since I've had some chest pressure issues in the past they did blood work and EKG. Everything came back okay so they think it's sinus migraine. I've always had sinus issues but nothing ever to this extent before.....doctor prescribed some high mg Advil, a steroid and a antibiotic. Anyone had their sinus get so bad it led to migraines? How long can I expect it to last? Any tips?

I had sinus issues often in the past, but now only occasionally do I get sinus headaches, and regular advil is useless in those instances. The worst was 25 years ago I had such sinus pain that I could not move and finally had to be driven to the doctor. I had a really bad sinus infection. They gave me high octane pain killers and antibiotics and I remember it knocking out the infection pretty quickly.

Good luck, that is not a fun pain.

I get migraines now and then. Less now that I am older. One thing that doesn't relieve the pain, but makes it go away faster is to drink a lot of water. Like twice what you would normally drink in a day. This cuts my time in pain roughly in half.

Sounds awful. Got my first ever sinus infection when I was 8 months pregnant with my first son. I thought i had a brain tumor.

I get ophthalmic (visual) migraines. No headache or nausea (had them a few times, never again I hope), but I get an aura. Pretty wavy flashing rippling colors, lights, and patterns. They last about 20-25 minutes and they're entertaining, but I can't read, drive etc until they're done. Definitely triggered by stress. aka I'm losing my mind.

I also get sinus headaches (changes in air pressure, and extended periods of low pressure, like this rain for three days now.)

Hot tea also helps, beside what your doc gave you, plus guaifenesin (generic Mucinex) helps thing things out for me.

If you can stomach the idea, look into using a netti pot. They clean out my sinuses quickly. Life savers when it comes to scuba diving

This happened to me in college a lot, self induced of course.

Have to admit I've never heard of the netti pot before this thread. Did some research and I think it's definitely worth a shot at this point.

I'm not totally convinced this pressure in my head is sinus but anything is worth a shot

We've had a lot of up and down, changing weather driving my sinuses nuts. I've had off and on headaches pretty bad the last week or two, but I've had the same type before and gotten all checked out and it went away.

I'd say the pressure is sinuses, but I'm not a doctor. Any small amount of inflammation there can cause discomfort, and even if you don't have drainage it can hurt pretty bad. I just tend to drink a lot more water and sleep a little more.

I had this exact same thing last month.
Missed work and began to think something was seriously wrong. Went to doctor and they were concerned as well. Ran blood work, stroke test, minigistis. All negative.

Was prescribed a combo drug for migraine but by the time I got it on the 5th day the symptoms were subsiding.
Honestly, sudafed combined with 800 mg of ibuprofen helped the most. The doctor said they are seeing a lot of headache and blame the weather.

I'm gonna look into that. I get dizzy occasionally like the opposite mentioned, my allergies are horrible.

I get dizziness, too.

Everyone complains about drainage and whatever but I almost never experience that. It's always dizziness, fatigue, and headaches.

I hate that dizzy feeling.

Starting to feel a little better finally. Haven't tried any of the nasal cleaners yet.
