If you are a Nashville resident, you know what this means. If you aren't, today is the 6th anniversary of the 1000 yr flood. It was definitely the craziest thing I've ever experienced. It was devastating to say the least but it was also awesome to see neighbors come to the rescue helping others.

As the waters rose near my house it was close to noon and the wife and I started moving things up the road. Neighbors showed up to help asking "what do you need me to do?" Well, heck, I didnt know. I'd never been in a flood before so we were winging it. At some point a guy showed up who was at the end of my street looking at the rising water. He came in the house ready to help us. Then he started telling us what to do. "Do you take medicine? get them together. Go get a few days of clothes and put them in a bag. Get your important papers together......" Instead of asking, he just told us the basics of what to do. Then at some point he left. I still dont know who he was nor have I seen him but he helped more than he ever knows.

I think it's a testament to the good people in TN. No riots and no looting that I know of.

We fuss about the world being a mess, but there are still plenty of awesome people. Stuff like that shows people do still care about each other.

We didn't get it as bad here in Gallatin, but I still remember driving through town and seeing many of the cars at Vic Jenkins under water. It was really great to see people come together to help total strangers. There are still plenty of good hearted people in the world.

Gallatin and Hendersonville were north of the dam so we got less but parts of Hendersonville still got crushed.

Buildings were swept away in Bellevue.
