Poor ol Wingate is the guy that doesn't pay attention and gets drilled in the head with a pass because he wasn't looking. I dunno if you can be taught out of that.

yeah, steele is damn good. he definetly created open looks and he is a major piece of their puzzle.
i just think that our size is gonna kill us. after this game, the other coaches are just gonna go big on us. pearl is gonna have to do something about this.
if we play a mid major in the first round of the ncaa who can shoot and is as big or bigger than bama, we will lose. we can run all we want, but that will now stop size.
Come on CBC, coaches can't just "go big". They are either big or they are not. Besides, you are not going to find any mid-majors that are as big and as athletic as bama.

yeah this may have been a fluke.

but i am sticking to my guns. SIZE

Well, I'm not going to deny that we got our butts handed to us in the post. I'm not going to deny that we lack the post players...(even though Patterson played pretty well considering he was the only one.)

We lost this game because bammer shot 76% in the first half and we shot 40%. That 76% took away a lot of our fast break chances and that's our bread and butter. Not many teams will shoot for that percentage in a half. Call luck if you want, I call it a fluke. Add to that the fact we couldn't make a lot of baskets and turn into the pressing D we are......there's their win. It's not like bammer is God's gift to basketball all of a sudden.

The scary thing is that today's game is how I originally expected us to look all season long.

I think that we bounce back big from this game. Just like after the LSU and Memphis games. Last time we beat UF coming off a loss.....

I agree, I don't think this game sends us into a nosedive or something. It is what it is . . . a loss on the road.

This loss will do them good, so they want get too big for their long shorts!!! Besides Arkansas beat the Gators today, so we will still lead the SEC east. I live in North Carolina, it feels so good for us to have a good men's B-Ball team for a change. All I hear is ACC. I love Bruce Pearl

I still think they should've let Lofton shoot the ball from half court with 10 minutes left. We all know he could have done it and he probably would've ended up about 50/50.

Road games are brutal....just ask Florida.

I hope the loss does them good. It's all about making a positive out of the negative. Welcome to the board.

Unlike Jerry Green's teams that folded in the latter parts of the year and tourney, this team was hustling to the bitter end today and I have a better feeling for this group here-on-out.

direct quote from coach pearl.....

"we got manhandled on the inside, and that was key". "we got outplayed inside and that was the main thing."

"they got that overwhelming size and all of our losses have come from SIZE"

THANk you thank you. i am gonna keep saying it.

coach also said that chris lofton is being raped every play and that has got to stop.

We got beat by the better team today. They match up well against us and they shot much better from the outside than they normally shoot. They absolutely dominated us down low. The are much bigger and more athletic in the post. Wingate is a very average player all the way around. He has terrible hands, he is a terrible rebounder, weak finisher around the basket, catch knock dwon mid-range shots with much consistency, not much of a shot blocker, he is kinda soft and can get pushed around when playing defense. I thought Major has some talent when he came to Tennessee, but I have realized there isn't much there.

Andre Patterson is a nice offenisve player. He has a good handle, can pnetrate and create his own shot, has nice tough around the basket, etc. I wish we had him another year. But, he is so thin and was undersized today that he was a liability on the defensive end as well.

We do struggle with teams that have big, athletic post players. UF will be tough, but I don't think they are as physical as Alabama. Noah is very thin, much like Patterson, etc. Kentucky only has Morrison. I think we beat UK at home, beat Vandy in Nashville, lose to UF, and Arky is a toss-up game. I see us going 2-2 or 3-1 to finish the regular season.

Although it would "look bad" we are in the tournament even if we lose the rest of the way out. We already have 10 wins in the SEC, wins over UF, UK, Texas, 2 over SC, etc. 10 wins in the SEC will without question get us in. But, we need to finish strong and get a Top 4 seed.

You know you were already making me nervous with the freudian way you've kept harping on how much size matters, and now Lofton's getting raped....

Is there something you want to tell us?

Seriously though, I think the biggest difference was the way we were shooting blanks all night and their freakish nack for getting it in the ho....

funny how cbc said he started the thread cause he figured other people were going to start it and how someone was going to be down on the team and the only one that keeps going on about our size and how its hurting us badly is cbc himself.... haha just messing with you man, really i am. but dont ever tell me to go toke it up again, i dont do that stuff, its offensive actually...

cbc we knew they had size and we knew they would beat us inside. We were going to give that up regardless. However, we could have overcome that if we shot a little better and they didn't hit everything they threw up in the first half. Steele was the x-factor in my opinion that we did not plan for.

Enjoy the win, you should have won at home. But don't be talking too much smack about a team with 9 losses.

Freak, with Bama as hot as they were in the first half, do you really think there was anything we could have done? I think it was just one of those days where you have to tip your hat and burn the game film.
