Slaughter had a heck of a game against us(Nichols not so much). When we have been in such dire need of db’s what do you make of him leaving and playing so well against us? Poor coaching(Martinez)? Better system? Confidence?

A good game. Players have good and bad games, no matter what team they play for. I'm not a Martinez fan, but fishing for disdain is a bit much.

This and to be frank, Slaughter wasn't that bad here. I think he is a classic hard hitter you see on the video games. Not the fastest guy in the secondary but he is very physical. There were definitely some blown coverages with him but he tended to make plays as well.

I am happy with our secondary right now. Sure, they had some mistakes in that game but they tend to be better than what I have seen in the past. Each year, we have gotten slightly better in that spot and it is one of the hardest areas to build. Even Alabama and Georgia have had secondary issues.

There are some rumors it helped Arkansas in general. He knew our play based on the lineup based on his background with the program.
So? We've had that privilege before, too. Bama and Georgia transfers. Look, we lost a game, due to various factors, already discussed on the forum. We lost, move along to the next game. Cause far as I know, nobody died.

It is definitely fair game and a part of the process. That is up to coaches to change up the play book every year.

He was good where he was here as well. He had a highlight hit once that caused fumble etc. He just wanted consistent enough in pass coverage we did not test him enough due to passing game issues.

I always like Slaughter and as I’ve said before, that hit against Kentucky makes him a VFL imo. But he wasn’t without issues…in the giveaway game earlier this year (Arkansas gave a game to Oklahoma State) he had two pass interference calls in the same drive in the 4th quarter. OSU scored a TD on the drive and that put them within a FG of tying the game. On the next series the Arkansas D forced a punt and the Arkansas put returner fumbled it - setting up the tying FG. I think part of the excitement from the Arkansas fans was that they won and didn’t somehow find a way to lose as they did against OSU.

I may be wrong, but I think he is in year 6 as well, so that certainly helps a player, besides everything else that was said....

Even the very best cornerbacks get beat from time to time. Simply the most difficult position to play in football in my opinion. Receivers have an advantage.
